Move Over, Hooters: New 'Breastaurants' Are Moving In On Market

I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Good restaurateurs know how to sell the sizzle, and few chains have done a better job of hustling the stuff over the past 2½ decades than Hooters.

But now, inspired by the success of Hooters' wings-toting female staff, restaurants such as Twin Peaks, Bone Daddy's and other local operators with cute waitresses, cold beer and a male clientele are, well, busting out all over. And Texas, where the sole Hooters' franchisee is both the chain's sales leader and No. 1 in locations nationally, is a prime market for the "breastaurant" concept.

Nelson Muntz said it all: My mom used to work at a Hooters until she got a job at a real strip club.

"I want my titties, and I want my beer...
Titties and beer

Oh for God's sake...are they kidding? Men have screwed this country and the world over since time began with their hormone pumped egos and "hunter-gatherer" mentality. Take a look at our financial mess....are you seeing a single woman at the top of any of these crumbling heaps? Instead of feeding men's nether-regions, we should be feeding their minds. Clearly, they need alot of help with thinking straight.

Woman are not allowed to be in politics because after Sarah Palin all I heard from the Left and Right is that she needs to spend her time being a mother and a wife!

Aren't there ANY smart men in the world or are we all detestable morons?

Now that there are many more women in politics we can blame them too.

Condi- shoe shopping while NOLA sank
Pelosi- impeachment is off the table
Palin- don't even get me started

I could go on. Point is, the sexes can now share the blame.

When you've been around long enough in business you see the young women age. They used their sexuality to get ahead and now when they begin to lose their perkiness they become embittered. It was alright when it was to their advantage, but now the wagging finger of sanctimony.

Also, when some guy cheats in business to buy his wife a new luxury car is she not complicit?

All good for the economy helping out some lil town. But rather not so good for women and young girls thinking that showing tits is the way to get tips!!

I think most women already know that, thus the number of strip clubs in places like Las Vegas

Once, on a motorcycle trip, I broke down. I stayed in a motel for a couple of days until everything came together. It was located in an American shopping strip running on as far as the eye could see in both directions.

Where to eat? How far did I want to walk? A real diner was nearby and would be just about everyone's first choice if it were open. It was boarded and awaiting demolition. The closest establishment: a Hooters. Let me say that I am in this restaurant's demographic: male, heterosexual, between 18 and 58, although very close to the top end in age. My first visit, I was a little uncomfortable. But knowing that Playboy has good articles to read, I thought Hooters may have good food to eat. A rational man.

To make a short story even shorter, the place was loud, the food average, and the girls (not women) were firm and pleasant. Now here's the one concept of Hooters I didn't know about: if a guy is alone and the waitress has time, they will come to your table, sit down , and talk. While I saw this for what it was, a waitress work requirement, it was a pleasant experience for me. We had a nice conversation, she was personal and honest without being flirtatious and I left happier than when I went in.

I've never been back. My motorcycle is running and I keep looking for those old diners along the road.

And you had an place nearby to keep all of those left-over donuts that came with your coffee.

This would suggest that the breast implant business should/will be booming!

Wonder if Warren Buffett's thought of that yet? :)

Stick to the coffee shops. Many more attractive women, and intelligent dialogue.

True, but also more costly, and typically a waste of money.

Going to a coffee shop is more costly than Hooters?

More attractive women? That depends on where you go, of course. You can't get a pitcher of beer at a coffee shop and you certainly won't find hot wings on the menu. It's apples & oranges.

Hey, they are putting people to work, from chefs, to mgrs., to yes, the good looking help. Why hate on them? Who cares if they are classy? If guys want to get together and watch some big screens and good looking waitresses whats so wrong with that?

Yeah, you're right. At the end of the day it is capitalism. Suckers are born everyday and some shallow beautiful women use their looks to get by no matter where they work whether it be hooters or the strip club or the 9-5. Nobody's forcing these guys to go to these places. It's just ugly humanity.

The scary thing is that in some parts of the country (like South East VA where I live) Hooters is actually passing off as a family restaurant. I've seen it with my own eyes. Husbands who actually con their wives into bring the kids out to Hooters for a family meal.

Hooters does have awesome hot wings but it's more or less a place for guys weening themselves off of strip clubs. The really creepy thing is how they train the waitresses to sit at the table and flirt with you for tips. That and the downward spiral you see with most of those girls. They start out working at Hooters and within a year they're go go dancing at some club or working for an escort service. The only thing creepier than that is the High School age girls that work the front counter who can't wait until they turn 18 so they can become real Hooters girls and wear the outfit. It's like sexual brainwashing or something.

Your description is interesting, I have no reason to doubt it, but I would like to see a real study done on where people go from their first job at Hooters. Who knows, maybe they go on to be the governor of Alaska.

Yeah, they don't all become strippers and escorts but it doesn't help when the Hooters is right around the corner from the strip club. Some of them become news anchors like the one local knock out than now co-hosts the morning news here where I live. Everybody knew her from bartending at Hooters and other local haunts and she spun that into an on camera gig. Pretty girls make the world go round or at least they make it far more interesting. A real study would be interesting though since most of those girls do no doubt use those persuasive skills in life where they can. It doesn't necessarily make them bad people. Whatever works.

We just got a Hooter's in our town ... and yesterday I saw a calendar item in the local paper for "Christian Singles meeting 6 p.m. Tuesday at Hooter's."
It was too funny.

Is there something un-Christian about Hooters? Because it certainly doesn't break any of the commandments.

Probably something I'd have enjoyed when I was 16... The actual adults who go to these places watch the Man Show on Comedy Central and use Tag body spray.
