GOP House Member To Rush Limbaugh: Back Off

Huffington Post   First Posted: 2/27/09 Updated: 5/25/11

Obama Playing Rush

Rush Limbaugh is taking heat from all sides for his comments about hoping President Obama's administration is a failure. Bill Bennett disagreed with his fellow conservative and said Limbaugh was wrong to say he wishes Obama will fail. Now Politico reports that Republican House member Phil Gingrey has a message for Limbaugh: back off.

"I think that our leadership, Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, are taking the right approach," Gingrey said. "I mean, it's easy if you're Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh or even sometimes Newt Gingrich to stand back and throw bricks. You don't have to try to do what's best for your people and your party. You know you're just on these talk shows and you're living well and plus you stir up a bit of controversy and gin the base and that sort of that thing. But when it comes to true leadership, not that these people couldn't be or wouldn't be good leaders, they're not in that position of John Boehner or Mitch McConnell."

Media critic Michael Wolff thinks Limbaugh is just being played by Obama:

Right now Rush is being played. The Obama dinner with conservative columnists, shortly before his inauguration, was as much about excluding Rush as coddling the columnists. Not only did the conservatives fawn, but Rush fumed. It got under his skin. Indeed, the rumor that he might in fact be there (likely coming from the Obama camp), and then his evident lack of an invitation, highlighted the slight. He's tried to make it out to be a political point ever since, but mostly he sounds like a guy who's hurt he didn't get invited to the hot party.

NO RUSH. DO NOT stop what you are doing. I want you to keep ranting and raving like the mad man you and your ditto heads truly are. Keep on huffin & puffin.

I hope to sit in front of my TV for the next set of exit polls from CNN, MSN, or perhaps even Faux. I want to see and hear the voters claim that they didn't meant to vote for the democrat, rather they voted against Rush Limbaugh. Go Rush go. Keep running you yap, because every time you open your big mouth, more people come over to our side.

If, god forbid, anything were to happen to you. Take comfort that Hannity and others like him will follow in your footsteps. So Rush, until next time. RAVE ON.

I think the less time people listen to the words of Rush, Colter, Hannity etc. the better off they are. I really wish we could have intelligent disagreements and I think that is what is finally happening in the Congress. The Senators and Reps are beginning to see that America is tired of "stupidity" and crap. We voted for Obama, not because of race, party, or any other label. We voted for him because he is smart and respectful of those who don't agree with him. I know many Republicans that voted for him for that reason. I don't claim to be a Democrat at all, but I am so far from being a Republican that the Dems are the only thing I can vote for. We need more progressive parties.

My comment is double standards we hear the part we like to hear but do not get the full truth and others bully others with different opinions . I disagree with the Nazi party but would have to over come my distaste because this America has freedom of speech but I do not have to listen to their beliefs that is my control but I defend the right of any person the right to speak.

Believe me, if Rush ran for POTUS in2012, he would win in a landslide...

You really are insane if you think Rush can win - dig a bit into his back ground. Just like Joe Scarborough, they can't run for dog catcher.

This is just the first act in the Limbaugh for President in 2012 campaign. With Sarah as his VP, they hope to steamroll the Dems.

Since Steele has been elected chairman of the RNC - does that mean the neo-cons will ease up on the racist remarks?

Hopefully, it will cut down on the r a c i s t remarks from the liberals~

To All Republicans: Stop your whining, stop your bi**ching, stop your stamping your feet and running to any microphone around, to get in your two cents. You lost for a reason, and keep this up you will continue.

That's Right. While George W, Cheney and Rove ran the country into the ground, they said nothing.
Now that they are out of power, they got more mouth than anybody.
The Repubs made their bed, now let them lie in it.
09:16 AM on 01/31/2009
That's right. The Repbulicans lost. The democrats won. But why all the whining from the democrats? YOU WON...you do not need one vote from the republicans in the house or senate to pass Obam's plan, but STILL Obama is trying to get the republicans to vote yes on this...this just shows that Obama, once this stimulus package FAILS, does NOT want the dems taking the fall for it...this is why he NEEDS the republicans to vote yes. NOT for bi-partisenship~

Why did the RNC choose Michael Steele to lead the party? They already had Rush.
04:26 PM on 01/30/2009
"It was totally about race." Let's hear Rush use that one this time.

Isn't that what they said about Alan Keyes ??

Thanks for reminding me of Rush's comment. The Repubs are in danger of making themselves totally irrelevant -- tilting at windmills.

Time to send the Republican party to the nutty back ward of history where bloodletting and leeches are state of the art medicine, the earth is flat and 6K years old, the sky is a solid dome, everybody drools, and wears aluminum foil helmets to ward off pixies, commies, socialized medicine, facts, and those invisible gay "rays" that you know will melt your brain's macho/ machisma centers and turn ya... ya betcha. Rush and this party of nuts needs electroshock therapy via the direct method: plug a wire from the brain into a 110 outlet.

I have equal amount of Republican and Democratic friends. From what I hear from all, what Limbaugh is saying is hurting Republicans more than anything. All my Republican friends are appalled at what is being said. All but one voted for McCain, so it isn't just something in favor of Pres. Obama. You can't be this hateful and disturbing and have decent people of any party agree with you. And to hope the country fails for political benefit is disgusting to all with any humanity.
