Under fire for what critics said was a "unilateral, closed-door" selection process that bypassed a black woman, Mayor Daley on Tuesday defended his decision to put the nation's third largest school system in the hands of an education neophyte: CTA President Ron Huberman.
The Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. blasted what he called the "unilateral, closed-door process" that culminated in Huberman's appointment.

Jackson said the Board of Education should have appointed a search committee to look nationwide for Duncan's successor.
