WATCH WHOOPI GOLDBERG IMITATE THE AD

The New York Post's Page Six reports that NBC has rejected a Super Bowl ad from animal rights organization PETA due to its hypersexualized nature:

NBC pulled the plug on a PETA pro-veggie commercial planned for the Super Bowl because it "depicts a level of sexuality exceeding our standards," according to NBC Universal's advertising standards executive, Victoria Morgan. The ad, which carries the tagline, "Studies Show Vegetarians Have Bet ter Sex," shows lingerie-clad stunners getting "intimate" with vegetables.

Read the articles which state that Peta takes in over $30 milion a year. Since 1998 over 17,000 animals - which is 85 percent of the animals they take into their rescue, were killed by them.
Then look at the adopt /euthanasia sexrate of other local shelters which is almost the opposite even though those shelters get nowhere near the same money. If you don't believe the articles it will lead you to links of Peta's site that talks about it's pro euthanasia stance.

This ad isn't any more provocative than most 1980s-era hair rock music videos. I'm guessing it was pressure from other advertisers that stopped the airing of the ad.

You missed the REAL news of this story about how this ad treads on the toes of some big NBC sponsors like fast food restaurants, etc

The sort of businesses represented by this tobbacco lobbyist who also lobbies for the meat industry http://www.consumerdeception.com

NBC sided with its advertisers who would not be happy with a challenge to their "product."

This lobbyist is the one behind all the "peta kills" smear brought to us here in this forum by all the puppy mill breeders, dog fighters, hunters, and all the rest who profit from animal abuse and hate Peta (for obvious reasons!)

More on PETA's attention grab, and why we should all quit discussing their Cucumber Girl ASAP:

That blog entry is pure drivel.

Here's an especially pathetic quip from it: "Yep, that's where your donations have been going, you crazy Cat Ladies: to pay PETA Cucumber Girl executives to "audition" just-showing-skin-for-the-cause Jane Fonda wannabe chicky babies for "public service" ads all day long."

I think PeTA goes a bit far some time. Then again people used to say the same thing about abolitionists and people who wanted full equality for blacks. John Brown was viewed overwhelmingly by the polite society of his time as a crazy rabble rouser, now he's viewed as a hero. A few hundred years from now people will take it for granted that ALL animals have rights, not just the human ones and will look back at our attitudes now with the same uncomprehending horror as we view educated people that owned slaves.

They should have called this Heavy Peta-ing

And I thought Peta wanted us to get rid of the salami, not just hide it...

I like how Peta tries to protect animals at the expense of objectifying women.
05:01 PM on 02/01/2009
Well maybe that is because it has been reported that Peta actually kills animals. Lots of them. So why be startled at their hypocrisy?
01:29 PM on 02/02/2009
Yes, "reported" by a sleazy drive-by company hired by puppy mills.

seriously.

What the ad needs is a dressing malfunction!

Get it? Like, the thing with Michael Jackson's sister, only with salad dressing? Hahahahaha.

Those look like some healthy, beautiful meat-eating women to me. Poor Peta is on the losing end of this battle for eternity. Turns out that meat is delicious.

Some information on those who want the truth about Peta and their killing of animals.

Here are a few articles

http://www.thegazebo.blogspot.com/2005/07/peta-and-euthanasia.html.

I do not believe every animal can or should be adopted.
But an 85 % kill rate is as piss poor as it gets.
You need to understand leader Ingrid's feelings on companion animals.
I am a vegetarian and an animal rescuer and I think Peta stinks.
So their expensive arty ad can pay for more pink cocktails to off the unfortunate creatures that end up in their rescue.
