I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Chip Saltsman went on MSNBC Tuesday morning with the intention to promote his candidacy for the Republican National Committee chairmanship. Instead, he got a tongue-lashing from MSNBC Contessa Brewer for trying to blame the media for the outrage over a Christmas tape he sent out that included the song "Barack The Magic Negro."

Watch the interview:

Politico has more.

Please can we move on, why must we waste so much time on a psycho, out of touch, a man with low mentality, that is REPUBLICAN PARTY for you, full of idiots, who thinks the world starts from Alaska and ends in New York .

Because the Republican party has a lot of power in this country and is still a danger to progress and Democracy.

Because we're not wasting the time on HIM. We're "wasting the time" on racism and the fact that it still happens. The fact that he sees nothing wrong with the racist jargon is what we're "wasting time on".

The fact that he didn't even think about what was on the CD, that he didn't worry that racism might possibly be a bad thing is where the issue is. He didn't even pause to wonder about it. He thought it'd be funny and shame on those silly black folks for not getting that this was a parody. That's where the issue is and why we're "wast[ing] so much time on a psycho". Saltsman and his apologists still don't get it.

The point you make with where Republicans think the world starts and ends is exactly why we're wasting time on this. There are way more people of various minorities than a bunch of priveledged white people out there and it's important to reiterate that fact to said priveledged white people.

Personally - educating and illustrating racism is never a waste of time or effort. It's important to show people that this sort of behavior will have them called out in the media and shown to be the racist that they really are. It's important to show the world that we're not going to put up with people thinking racism is lulz and minorities are jerks for thinking that it's not funny.

We're supposed to be more educated and better than this.

Parody by comics is one thing.

Parody with racist overtones by a non-comic in a serious situation such as this deserves the attention and reprobation it is receiving.

Bottom line, Chip Saltsman understood exactly what he was doing. He was attempting to appeal to what he believes are the core beliefs of the Republican Party's most faithful, those who will actually be deciding who the next chair of the RNC is.

As Ms. Brewer asked, how can the Republicans expect to attract the the non-caucasian voters that they cannot win elections without, when their leadership is acting like this (and they apparently actually subscribe to such beliefs)?

Chip Saltsman as the RNC Chair is the best thing that could happen to the Democratic Party. Combined with Sarah Palin in some other leadership or front person role they could together ensure the Democrats control Congress and the White House for the foreseeable future.

Contessa was angry and wouldn't let Mr. Chip bring up what he thought was his big defense, that the phrase "Barack the magic ..." was apparently in the L.A. Times some time before his stupid move.
He fails to understand that to take that dimball and run with it was nasty and stupid. So nobody made a big deal of it when it was in the paper, he still thought it was worthy of further disribution, and that's why he and the RNC are out of touch with the Real America, a diverse country.

Poor Chip, how do we expect an ignorant hillbilly to understand why some people might be offended by his sense of humor?? If he understood that the song might be offensive, he never would have sent it out.

If Chip doesn't offer an apology he should just quit politics right now.
He acted foolishly, he needs to own up to it and apologizes.

I'd pay Ms B. a million dollars to get rid of that hideous first name. (If I still had a million that is.)
