I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Today on "The View" moderator Whoopi Goldberg brought up how NBC rejected PETA's new commercial for being too racy.

Wanting to discuss the ad, Whoopi was also not allowed to air the spot on ABC. Instead, she took a moment to show viewers what the ad consisted of, bringing out a basket of cabbage and broccoli and showing it her love.

I love the funny re-enactment by Whoopi, right on! But, this is such a joke. This is a publicity ploy by PETA to get people talking about them and of course it has worked since I've now seen about 3 shows talking about this ad (without showing it). However, does anyone honestly believe that PETA could afford an ad during the Super Bowl? Please. Way to go to gain publicity though.

Yes! They got more value out of this than from an actual 30 sec SB spot.
PETA is a bunch of very clever people.

"PETA is a bunch of very clever people."

Either that or the average American TV viewer is a real du.mmy and it's really easy to manipulate him/her... ;)

so the answer to your question - yes.

Stop being honest about sex instead of burying it in creepiness and innuendo! There might be people watching who think The View is relevant and Whoopi is "refreshing."

I laughed at the original commercial -- and I loved Whoopi's send-up, too!

P.S. Though I'm not exactly a vegetarian, I did have dinner at Loving Hut last night. And it was good.

Hey what about all those men vs. cucumber jokes of the 70's? hee hee...To some people vegetables are apparently a big turn on. As for PETA I think they are a bunch of opportunistic kooks. You only hear about them when they are trying to extort money out of someone. I truly believe that there are decent people who care about animals in this country...however I don't believe that PETA represents them.

PETA doesn't represent most people who care about animals. Their agenda is to eliminate animals as "slaves" to people, that includes pets. They are definately opportunistic kooks. It always saddens me when someone supports their cause. There are many good animal welfare (as apposed to animal rights) groups worth supporting. PETA, imho, is made up of people without a real clue as to the true plight of animals in our society or they would be more supportive of spay/neuter clinics and low cost vaccination clinics. Their rescue shelter kills on the average greater than 90% of the animals surrendered because they believe the pets are better off dead than "owned" as slaves for their owners enjoyment. Less than 1% of the donations they receive actually go to animal welfare issues, most goes to legal funds or publicity. By now, you can probably tell I really don't like this organization!!!!!!!!

We can't protect our kids from guns in school, but we make sure they aren't corrupted by suggestive commercials.

What a stupid, puritanical country we live in.

The real irony is that the only people in the world who would agree with NBC that the PETA commercial is too much for people to watch are the fundamentalist leaders of the Islamic world. The Rush-bots like to say that PETA has a lot in common with Al-Qaeda, while, in fact, it's NBC and the entire conservative world in the US who share their silly view on sex.uality being something to be ashamed of...

Well, PETA's trying to peddle a tough message. As a former PETA member, I can tell you they were not violent. They're trying to get a message out to people who are not receptive to changing their views, is all.

I like the commercial. I think it's appealing.

I am sorry but Whoopi Goldberg is so annoying. She loves to suck the spotlight form everyone and also cuts guests from getting their point across. She thinks she's always right. Her mouth looks like it needs a lot of dental assistance. With all that money you would think she would have healthier gums. Whoppi please leave the View!
