I think Obama should trademark Sasha and Malia's likeness and name--just to avoid that "Ty" incident again.
Not sure what he can do for himself and Michelle, but it would definitely go against what he believes in for beer, cigarette companies, etc. using his image to push their products.

My husband was furious when he saw those Obama coins on tv. He asked me how Obama could be profiting from these coins. It took me a while to convince him that Obama doesn't get anything from all this merchandise, and probably would like most of it to disappear. I don't understand why the White House can't copyright Obama's image like they do both dead and alive celebrities. Then the govt could charge companies for the use of Obama's image and rake in a few coins!
I told my husband that they could slap Obama's face on baby diapers, and he wouldn't be able to do one thing about it. We both think this is insane. I hope the White House can test the law on this and see if the govt can lcopyright/license our poltical leaders images and remarks.

This commercial exploitation of President Obama's image and slogans is getting out of hand. I support anything the White House lawyers can come up with to put a halt to it, as long as it doesn't stifle the American entrepreneurial spirit, and stop me from selling my "authentic" Obama incense. Ths is the exact same incense that President Obama lights when he needs to chill, and think seriously on a difficult economic and global problem, and it's a very limited edition. This is a LIMITED EDITION, and I will make no more after it sells out--unless more people want to buy some.
