George Obama Arrested: Obama's Half Brother Charged With Drug Possession In Kenya

NAIROBI, Kenya — The half-brother of President Barack Obama was arrested for alleged possession of marijuana on Saturday near his home in a Nairobi shantytown, police said.

George Obama, who is in his 20s and barely knows the president, had one joint of marijuana on him, said Joshua Omokulongolo, the police chief in the area.

"He is not a drug peddler," Omokulongolo told The Associated Press. "But it's illegal, it's a banned substance."

George Obama has a court appearance scheduled Monday morning.

He and the president have the same father, who died in a car crash in 1982.

The White House declined comment Saturday on the president's half-brother.

Several of President Obama's Kenyan relatives went to Washington, D.C., for his inauguration, but George was not among them. He lives in Huruma with extended family.

Media reports about him surfaced over the summer, after a magazine article said he lived in a shack and earned a dollar a day. George Obama has called the reports insulting.

"I'm proud of how I live," he told The Associated Press in an interview over the summer. "(The media) are tarnishing the family name."

He also said he was studying to be a mechanic and works with a local youth group in Huruma.

In President Obama's book "Dreams From My Father," he describes George Obama as "a handsome, roundheaded boy with a wary gaze."

George is the youngest of the senior Obama's seven children, born six months before his father died.

This is not news but it needs to be discussed. The war on cannabis has been taking a toll on people for as long as I can remember. Hopefully, President Obama and some of the Congress people will have the political courage to take action on cannabis reform before anyone else has to suffer for the absurd and fascist policies perpetrated by Anslinger, Nixon, and other unscrupulous characters.

I think today of an incident years ago, of a young man in my area shot to death by a deputy because he had a cannabis charge and he tried to run away.

I would rephrase the question: Why are the "perpetrators" being bailed out? A: A bucket-brigade is the only "logical" choice to slow the inevitabe sinking of America. As for arresting them, you'd have to indict the most powerful people on earth. This "Financial Opera" opened in 1913 when Woodrow Wilson signed the Federal Reserve Act into the illegal "law " it is. Point fingers all you like, but the meltdown was a long-planned event that was BOUND to happen. Now the progeny of these anti-national "entities" who set up the dominos are gleefully watching them fall. The final curtain will usher in the New World Order.

After signing away our sovereignty, Wilson made some strange comments about "circles within circles", "monopolies" and small groups of powerful men you "dare not condemn above a whisper". And from his book 'The New Freedom': "We may delude ourselves with the pleasing belief that we are electing our own officials, but of course the fact is we are merely making an indifferent and ineffectual choice between two sets of men named by interests which are not ours".

Let me get this straight. Obama barely knows this half brother and he is supposed to support him. Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton grew up with their brothers. Obama didn't and has never met him. If I have a half brother over in Vietnam when my father was sent there, a brother whom I've never met, and a brother whose family had no interest in letting me see him, using their logic I'm supposed to support him and be responsible for his behavior. I think not.
