I Like ItI Don’t Like It

TAMPA, Fla. — Nick Lachey is defending ex-wife Jessica Simpson, who has been criticized for an apparent weight gain.

Photos of a curvier Simpson performing last week in Florida have been plastered all over the Internet, leading to a slew of nasty comments about her weight.

Lachey, who was divorced from Simpson in 2006 after four years of marriage, defended her when asked about the criticism Friday night at a Super Bowl party he co-hosted with NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson.

"I think it's ridiculous that the media is making such a big deal about it," he said at his Super Skins Celebrity Golf Classic party. "It's ridiculous that it would be making headlines. But you can't believe everything that's written or reported in the media. I wish her nothing but happiness."

The New York Post ran an editorial cartoon mocking Simpson, and Saturday ran a photo of her performing Thursday night in Charlottesville, Va., wearing a black leather ensemble. The Post described the outfit as a "waist-length jacket over her skin-tight pants and wide belt."

Lachey joined a growing list of celebrities in defense of Simpson that includes super model Heidi Klum, curvy reality TV star Kim Kardashian and Simpson's sister, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz.

"I am completely disgusted by the headlines concerning my sister's weight," Ashlee wrote on her blog this week. "A week after the inauguration and with such a feeling of hope in the air for our country, I find it completely embarrassing and belittling to all women to read about a woman's weight or figure.

"All women come in different shapes, sizes, and forms and just because you're a celebrity, there shouldn't be a different standard."

Worry about how you look in the mirror.

Jessica looks normal. She probably gained because most celebs go through such a ridiculous regimen to stay thin. She probably started eating normally and gained. Someone on here mentioned the obesity problem in America. This news story is not related to that. Jessica isn't obese, she's a normal woman. I prefer curves on a woman anyway. Give me Marilyn Monroe's hourglass curves anyday over a stick figure like Angelina Jolie.

Jessica only made money on her figure because of idiot men who droled over her, and most of you can't even see your feet when you look over your bellies. If every one in Hollywood had to have talent, we would only have about 5 actresses and maybe 6 actors. The rest all make it on looks, but when they decide to gain weight- like it or not it's their business. You don't have to buy her records or pay to see her in concert. If she gets concerned that she's losing money she will lose weight. If not--oh well. Funny though the people who care to comment on her weight probably all need to look in the mirror. I bet you're fat, out of shape and ugly and making nasty comments on Jessie somehow makes you feel better.

According to normal standards and I mean those of 1980's, pre bulimia and anorexia, there is nothing wrong with her figure.

Time warp to the future. If you wear anything over a size 2, you're fat. Not reality.

People are getting fatter not thinner. Obesity is an epidemic in this country. Just look at this shocking trend:
http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/obesity/trend/maps/

Walking on eggshells around fat people and telling them it is ok to just get bigger and bigger is not helping anyone. They need to cut the bull, eat less and go to the gym.

We are talking about the ruc kous going on about her gaining a few pounds and the unnecessary publicity...not the obesity and diabetes which is taking over the country.

This is the entertainment section...gossip for those bored souls with nothing to do.

Please, the media needs to stop focusing on what women weight. One it's not their business, and two a little weight on is the norm. The average woman is not a size 0 or even a 2. Please it more like 14. So what if this gal gained a few pounds. It's her life and her body.

Firstly, she makes a living showing off her figure. She made tens of millions on it, in fact. How much she weighs is proportional to how much money she makes in endorsements. She knows it and if it takes a trainer to maintain a healthy figure then you truly have zero maturity.

Then again, this is Jessica ''what are buffalo wings?'' Simpson.

Commenting on Jessica Simpson's weight is nothing for Jessica Simpson. She got something from the media and now they are hurting her feelings. Its a wash.

However, making an issue out of this, especially since she is still not fat, affects all the little girls who ever thought she was something. The media needs to just stop calling women who are really still thin on their weight, not for the celeb's sake, but for the girls who will hate themselves or starve themselves...

I mean remember journalism school when you thought you were going to do something important? Well do that and stop talking about weight.

but it's ok for the little girls to see her gain fame by dancing around in a bikini?

no problem with that, huh?

sure it is

her career is based on her looks

Don't be shocked if people judge you on your looks or weight when your career and success has been built and made on your appearance. With that being said. She is fat and needs to lose the weight or lose the other reason why she is in the news. Tony.

Listen, Jessica makes more money than many working families and it is based on some minor talent and her looks. She doesn't have two neurons to rub together, but is a millionaire.

If the worst thing she has to endure are some insults on the internet, then I am not going to hold any telethons for her.

Jessica Simpson made her career out of exploiting her sex appeal. It is laughable that now that she has gained weight, people suddenly tell the media to "leave her alone", and "it's sexist" and whatever other ill conceived thought they have.

Suddenly now these people are concerned with belittling women. Where were they when Simpson was strutting around in a bikini?

Um, it is sexist. What she chooses to wear is her choice. That is not sexist. Other people presuming that they know what's best for her body, and that a healthy weight is a problem because she's a woman, that's sexist.
