Springsteen had 12 minutes to wow the nation last night, but really only took ten seconds. It's no Nipplegate, but it got us to step away from the guacamole.

What a nation of prudy Puritans, we are. Its been almost 60 years (?) since Elvis's crotch was censored on the Ed Sullivan show and we still freak out over a fully clothed man sliding on his knees. I'm not pointing the finger at anyone because I cover my kids eyes during make-out scenes but let them watch slasher films. Everybody in the world thinks were weird. Springsteen never suffered from the need to "be cool." he's always been tight with his peeps, not aloof. because of that, he turned out to be one of the coolest singer-songwriters. nice paradox.
