Rove Will Cooperate With Federal Probe Into US Attorney Firings

Karl Rove will cooperate with a federal criminal inquiry underway into the firings of nine U.S. attorneys and has already spoken to investigators in a separate, internal DOJ investigation into the prosecution of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman, his attorney said in an interview.

Rove previously refused to cooperate with an earlier Justice Department inquiry into the firings. The Justice Department's Inspector General and its Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) said in a report released last September detailing their earlier probe of the firings of the U.S. attorneys that their investigation was severely "hindered" by the refusal by Rove and other senior Bush administration officials to cooperate with the probe.

There's a big difference now than before: We won! Bush/Cheney and Mulkasey can't protect him anymore! Rove has to show up, and that in itself shows he isn't above the law. He can sit there and take the 5th all he wants, but he thought he could just flip Congress the bird and go bout his bidness!

It's against the law to lie to a federal agent about anything, including what time it is, so let's hope they can nail him. It is imperative to our democracy and sense of self respect that he and others involved be called to account for their actions. And I include GWB and DC, DR and CR, et. al in that.

Maybe. But I do look forward to seeing him squirm. I hope one of the first questions he is asked is about the involvement of Ohio resident, Mike Connell in all of this.

Connell was a long time IT consultant used by the Jeb Bush gubernatorial campaign, the George Bush 2000 campaign, the theft of the 2004 election by the Bush team in Ohio, the Bush White House, the Rove effort to fire federal attorneys when they wouldn't bring false charges against Dems, the erasing of White House office emails concerning that case, and the manipulation of votes and false information about Don Seiglman.

Shortly before Connell was to testify about his involvement , he died in a plane crash in Ohio on his way home from a meeting with Rove. As an Ohio resident, I am especially interested in this. But as an American, I am especially interested in getting justice done and seeing Rove fry!

Perhaps Rove is the reason Obama has not abolished secret renditions. We can dream, can't we?

No president will abolish rendition because you'll always want the option open to bring back bad guys from other countries for trial (a la Adolf Eichmann). However, Obama has abolished "extraordinary" rendition which is what BushCo used to get around those pesky anti-torture laws.
