Rove Will Cooperate With Federal Probe Into US Attorney Firings

Karl Rove will cooperate with a federal criminal inquiry underway into the firings of nine U.S. attorneys and has already spoken to investigators in a separate, internal DOJ investigation into the prosecution of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman, his attorney said in an interview.

Rove previously refused to cooperate with an earlier Justice Department inquiry into the firings. The Justice Department's Inspector General and its Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) said in a report released last September detailing their earlier probe of the firings of the U.S. attorneys that their investigation was severely "hindered" by the refusal by Rove and other senior Bush administration officials to cooperate with the probe.

I know where there's a cell recently vacated by Gov. Don Siegelman...let's hope he goes there. If Obama rescinds Bush's order on the records, "I don't recall" isn't going to do Rove much good. There's a paper trail that's recently been moved to the National Archives. Obama has already lifted the FOIA. Wish I was on the grand jury. It will be a he l l of a show! Can't wait for the C-Span show when he has to testify in front of the Committee. I doubt he'll get a pass on that.

I'm waiting to find out when President Clinton will be prosecuted for the attorneys HE fired. One of the very first things he did when he got in office was to fall ALL of the U.S. district attorneys except Chertoff. But I guess that was ok. But I guess that doesn't matter. I guess it doesn't matter that EVERY president has the right to fire and hire attorneys as they see fit.

Every President does what Clinton did, whizkid. Replacing the U.S. attorneys at the beginning of ones administration is standard procedure. The Attorneys are all expected to submit their resignations to the incoming administration. New Attorneys, of the incoming president's persuasion, are hired and then LEFT ALONE TO DO THEIR JOBS.

What is unacceptable is handpicking those to fire for political reasons.
