Rove Will Cooperate With Federal Probe Into US Attorney Firings

Karl Rove will cooperate with a federal criminal inquiry underway into the firings of nine U.S. attorneys and has already spoken to investigators in a separate, internal DOJ investigation into the prosecution of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman, his attorney said in an interview.

Rove previously refused to cooperate with an earlier Justice Department inquiry into the firings. The Justice Department's Inspector General and its Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) said in a report released last September detailing their earlier probe of the firings of the U.S. attorneys that their investigation was severely "hindered" by the refusal by Rove and other senior Bush administration officials to cooperate with the probe.

It's amazing that he's been able to disobey the law so far. By rights he should be in jail by now. Yet he's got a spot on Fox where he pretty much tells the government to kiss his ass.

He said he will talk about the Attorney General firings but his lawyer is this story is N O T the one (Fielding..?) associated with the Conyers investigation and the supoena. Will he refuse to answer any question that 'he deems' not relevant to specifically AG firings..? Ro ve being Honest... I doubt it.

This is kind of off topic, but I heard this afternoon that one of the U.S. attorneys fired by Monica ("I took an oath to the president") Goodling, because Goodling had heard that the attorney was lesbian, has been reinstated as a U.S. attorney. Wonder if there is any legal charge that could be brought against Goodling? If not, I'll just have to imagine Goodling sharing a cell with a roomie named Big Bertha.
