"The View" Producer "Obsessed" With Heidi And Spencer

Executive producer of "The View" Bill Geddie is "obsessed" with MTV reality couple Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt.

In Monday's LA Times, in an article about the daytime chatfest coming to the Disney lot in Burbank for a week, Geddie talked about the show's guest bookings:

"I had a publicist come up to me the other day and say, 'You know, I have all these clients, all these stars I can't get on your show. What is going on?' And I said, 'I wouldn't have predicted a year ago that I would clear the boards to put Condoleezza Rice on.' It just wouldn't have occurred to me. But people want to see her."

So is "The View" getting all wonky on us? Well, not exactly. Also on the Burbank guest list are featherweight reality stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt.

"This is my personal obsession," Geddie said. "I can't get enough Heidi and Spencer. I must tell you, the women are not exactly in my court on this. I hear: 'Why are you booking them again?' And I say, 'There's something about them that sort of encapsulates the age we live in.' "

The week out west begins March 9.

I just figured out their weird appeal. The one with the long blonde hair has a carved, squared masculine jaw. The one with the short blond hair has a pretty, rounded face, even though it's partially obscured by something resembling facial hair. They're neither this nor that, the perfect symbol of our age.

Mr. Geddie.. you need to get a clue. These two morons are so yesterday. Most people cringe at the sight of these two. Most teenagers can't even stand them or their show anymore. (I've heard "The Hills" is way down in the ratings.)

Let's see..a woman who is utterly controlled by her unshaven, often disrespectful and rude boyfriend, gets drunk and sort of marries him in Mexico supposedly sums up the age we live in and that is why we are putting them on The View? Glad I am not standing in the same place as this producer who "views" these two as what sums us all up. Pretty sad statement Mr. Geddie.

The View gained points when they began to get serious on the show and discuss real issues. This is certainly a step backwards.

Time for a new producer. Bill is having a mid life crisis. Being with young people does not make you young. Being with intelligent people might enlighten you, Bill. Ask the audience who they want as guests-what a novel idea.

The View recycles guests. How many times has Julianne Moore been on? Nothing against her but I was stunned to see her yet again last week.

Babs said she doesn't have anything to do with hiring and firing but EH is still on that show. They can't tell me they haven't recieved the same amount, or more of unfavorable mail for Lizze that Star Jones received! They just can't tell me that.

Also, the women need to allow each other to talk. Whoopi is great about waiting to talk but not the other women. They shout over each other or talk while the guest is talking. I leave the interview not hearing a lot of things.

Call them friends, but Lizzie is getting bolder and bolder in her political acrimony with Joy.
