I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Dakota Fanning, looking all grown up at 14, taped Letterman on Monday afternoon. The segment airs on Friday and promotes "Coraline," a film for which Fanning provides a voice.

She donned navy blue jumpsuit shorts and heels for the occasion.

i know little girls like practicing to walk in heels (14 is like 8th grade, right?) but the shorts COULD have been a couple of inches longer.......she's still a little girl....why give the pervies extra viewing?

that said, she DOES look very cute, though......

I'm not getting what's wrong with this outfit. The very people complaining probably have daughters that really show it on the beach, school, the mall, when Mommie's not looking. This outfit is very neat, not gaudy. Have you seen the kids in school with pot bellies wearing skin-tight-cuff-sleeved-high-rising T- shirts?!?!?!?!?!? and just below the belly low-rider-skin-tight jeans!

You're lucky if they start just below the belly. Butt cleavage on girls is just disturbing.

The Jump suit is cute. It looks very fourteen. Works well.
The shoes are X rated.

But she pulls it off and was probably far more comfortable than she would have been in runners with her feet dangling on the podium.

Those few oolging and panting should reevaluate their morality.
Those complaining need to go get a life.

She's in her awkward period--but it's an awkward period the average girl would kill for. Obviously this is a child star with an adult career ahead of her, a la Jodie Foster.

I am a mother and granted my child is very small but there is no way I would let a 14 year old child go out with those stripper shoes (albeit, expensive stripper shoes.)
As to the drooling old farts in here-you're all disgusting and remind me how grossed out I was as a teenager but dirty old men who fawned over me. GROSS!

I know what your saying, I have two girls of my own. I have issues with old men to this very day. A thing you might want to remember for the future is that when girls will begin to rebel they first lash out at their mothers. You need to pick your battles carefully.

When I saw this photo it seemed as though she may have been allowed to wear the shoes because the outfit was tame. (just a mother's theory.)

She looks cute. So, she's always looked cute. Does the introduction of womanly attributes to her body via maturation offend people? The outfit is not tight, low cut, while it's shortness reveals lovely legs. If her budding body causes heterosexual men to notice she is becoming a woman, then take it up with mother nature. No wonder post puberty to legal age is so difficult a period for young girls. They're damned if they do and damned if they don't. I just hope her character gives her good sense in her head. That's the part of growing up she must master, everything else is just another person's viewpoint, whether skewed or concise. I hope she becomes a great actress, and it's up to her how she deals with her wardrobe.

She looks great in that outfit. She's Letterman, not Sponge Bob. I remember when girls her age were expected to wear skirts and high socks, which are way more sexy than this. Welcome to the 21st Century.

This was PERVERSE!

What do you think people will be looking at when she sits in that chair? Her face? Her jumpuit? Will they be interested in what she says about her movie? None of the above. That suit will hike up shorter than a mini skirt. I wouldn't want my daughter wearing that at 14 if she was in the public eye. This looks like something Jennifer Aniston would wear.

I think maybe it's what you're thinking that's perverse. It's just a little girl in shorts. Nothing perverse about that. Get your mind out of the gutter.

Perverse: obstinate in opposing what is right, reasonable, or accepted.By opposing what is accepted that puts her in good company such as MLK, Jr. and Ghandhi.

Of course you might be talking about your chubby...

She looks beautiful. This is a girl that kids should aspire to be, she is a great role model and a class act.
Her outfit is perfect for going on national TV, she is one cool girl. I can't wait to see her job choices in the next ten years, she reminds me a bit of the smart, talented Jodi Foster.

Nope..... too grown up for 14 years. Lower heels would have lessened the adult appeal.

She was dressed up for a special occasion, I doubt she dresses like that to go to the grocery with her Mom. She's not wearing a pound of make-up or tons of jewelry, diamonds and fur etc... I think she looks like a smart, healthy, natural teenager.
oh well... just my view-

well that's the sad state of our society- how old do you think the runway and print models are now?? and you wonder why real women who are thin but clearly womanly are running around starving and doing coke all day- because of this- we all look like this at 14, slim, young, etc. maybe at 24 we look great too and perhaps at 34, 44, etc, but when does this insanity stop? this is not a normal thing. this is a child wearing dress up clothes. real women need to reclaim the body image!
whateves-

Nice.

I like incoherent rants about nothing, especially when the writer is convinced she or he are making some awesome point that will change the world forever.
"...a child wearing dress up clothes...",which you claim is not a normal thing, but which you earlier implied was normal,as "we all look like this at 14",then intimated it needed to stop somewhere around the age of 44.

You are one hot mess...
