I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Dakota Fanning, looking all grown up at 14, taped Letterman on Monday afternoon. The segment airs on Friday and promotes "Coraline," a film for which Fanning provides a voice.

She donned navy blue jumpsuit shorts and heels for the occasion.

And those heels are RI.DI.CU.LOUS.

Do you see goose bumps, or are you going to say they are photo shopped. Not hardly.

she's basically just a hugely intelligent, talented, accomplished, high-achieving teenager. probably capable of determining the level of appropriateness in her attire as well

A kid is a kid one and all, however intelligent. She is very lovely and a very accomplished actor but the heels are too high and the "middle of winter" comment is very valid and is a testament to her youth. But hey....she has a MOM.

Once every 2 or 3 generations, an actor comes along that consistently puts out quality work from an early age on. Ms. Fanning is one of those.

Congrats to her parents for raising such a smart, grounded child. I look forward to seeing her multiple Oscar speeches down the line.

No way she is 14, 17 maybe more likely 19. :)

She has clearly skipped the awkward period.

Her parents should be proud. Just keep her away from Tom Cruise, please.

At any other time in human history apart from the tiny slice of time in which we find ourselves at this fleeting moment, this lovely, intelligent young woman would be of marrying age.

I'm just SAYIN'! (And even those who are somewhat shocked by this thought at least have to admit that it's tecnically true!)

Marrying?

At any other time in history, she wouldn't just be married, she'd probably already have had her first child. I think it's fairly amusing that people are shocked and offended that males and females are sexually mature right after puberty considering that -- puberty is the age of sexual maturity.

Our laws and mores have very little to do with the natural, biological order of things. That doesn't make our laws wrong, it's just worth reminding ourselves: "nature" designed women to start breeding around 14-15, to have a fairly large family (those that didn't die in infancy) by their mid to late 20's, and to likely die by mid 30's to mid 40's. In "nature," a 50 year old woman (or man) was a senior citizen. Then whole "50 is the new 30" thing is NOT nature speaking, it's 100% "better living through chemistry" (actually, better living through innoculations, hand washing, and the rise of the middle class, but who's counting).

For the record, I'm 38 -- in "nature," I'd likely be dead by now.

I thought Letterman taped fridays show on thursday??

and wow did she grow up!

it's inappropriate. No child of mine would go out on Letterman with that outfit with those heels at 14!

Doesn't make me think anything about Dakota, she's just a child, it does make me feel disgusted with her parents.

You would rather see her in a Burka?
She is not exactly in a thing Bikini here.
This idea that we have to be so terrified on the human body is very strange.

hasn't she always been a little old for her age?

she's more mature than miley (who's 16)

Common, I don't see anything wrong with what she's wearing. So what if she's 14 and starting to wear heels and stuff? Think you feet the bill of being a fashion stylist? Here's a job that you could consider http://jobstaxi.com/viewjob.php?jobid=112009

A little too much for a 14 year old. I like her though cause she's light years ahead and well-put together than Lohan is at 22.

With the fact that not only is she in shorts and short sleeves in New York, where it's maybe in the high 20's I think the shoes look ridiculous and way to mature for a 14 year old.
