I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Hilary Duff has hit out at Faye Dunaway's looks in an interview with E! News. The fracas began when a remake of "Bonnie and Clyde" was announced, starring Duff, 21.

Dunaway, 68, who starred with Warren Beatty in the 1967 original, was quoted in the Chicago Sun-Times January 28th as having said, "Couldn't they at least cast a real actress?"

Now Duff, asked by E! about Dunaway's supposed comments, has responded by insulting her appearance.

"I think that my fans that are going to go see the movie don't even know who she is, so you know, uh, I think it was a little unnecessary but I might be mad if I looked like that now too."

And their parents are unlikely to let them go to see a film involving gangsters and culminating in a scene where two people are ripped apart by machine gun bullets....How are they going to sneak that into a 12 film?

Hillary Duff simply does not have the goods. Her movie will stink, and most likely recede into the slush pile of similar overhyped, yet mediocre underachievements brought forth by Hillary Duff and her sub par ilk.

Faye in The Thomas Crowne Affair, with the heavy 1960's eye make-up, very nice.

"Couldn't they at least cast a real actress?" I've heard it said that everyone is an actor to some extent. Actors used to complain about rappers getting movie roles until performances by Will Smith, Queen Latifah and Mos Def shut them up. I say an older actress should be supportive of younger talent and give them a chance to grow in the craft the way they were given a chance.

At the same time, I'd be careful about criticizing someone's aging looks if I were Duff. The come-back insult didn't actually make Duff's case that she deserves to be in the film. It was petty. Next time, Duff, take the high road. You'll look better for it.

Sorry, Hilary, but Ms. Dunaway was a hotter piece - and a far better actress - than you'll ever be.

And 'Faye 77': Don't even.

Dear HilDuff,

When you have a Best Actress Oscar and have starred in cinematic classics like "Bonnie and Clyde" "Chinatown" and "Network" then you might have standing to trash talk Miss Dunaway. Until then, it's best you hush up and keep trying to find work.

Love,
AMPAS

Amen,

Duff is to Dunaway what the Monkees were to the Beatles.
If I were Duff, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on that Oscar.
The Olsen twins would have a better shot with one of their
direct to DVD releases.

I can promise Ms. Duff that there are a lot more people on the planet who are familiar with Ms. Dunaway's work than with hers. I doubt that will ever change.

I'll close by saying that I hope some young actress makes fun of how Duff looks when she's 68. Then again, will there really be a reason for anyone to know or care what Duff looks like when she's 68? I seriously doubt it.

"Duff is to Dunaway what the Monkees were to the Beatles."

So are you saying you don't like the songs "Daydream Believer" or "Last Train to Clarksville" or "I'm a Believer" or "Valereii"?

And when you already have a Best Actress Oscar, then why worry about a remake that uses talent you consider inferior? If that's truly the case, then shouldn't the remake end up validating Dunaway, not challenging her?

Dunaway's classic performance won't be diminished. So why come out and blast a 21-year-old kid for making an effort?

I remember when the original "Bonnie and Clyde" came out. No one thought that Faye Dunaway was a real actress either.

True - but then Dunaway proved that she was and is, in fact, a real actress - many times over.

It's certainly more than one can say for Miss Duff. And Duff's had a lot more work than Dunaway ever had before she took on "B&C".

Come on, let's get real here: Faye Dunaway has had a spotty career. Yes, she was great in "Network" and "Chinatown", but "The Eyes of Laura Mars" and "Mommie Dearest"????

Sure, HD's stuff to date has been sugar-coated Disney stuff, but they were aimed at kids and were generally successful in what they tried to do. Doing such trash didn't hurt Kurt Russell's career!

Lets make a comparison. One of Dunaway's first films was Bonnie and Clyde. One of Duff's first films was A Cinderella Story. Which one is better? Dunaway wins hands down!

While I might not take "A Cinderella Story" over "Network", I will take it over "The Eyes of Laura Mars".

I really think that this says more about Ms Duff and her fans, than it says anything about Ms Dunaway. When Ms Duff says that her fans wouldn't know who Faye Dunaway is, she is certainly telling the truth - and more's the pity. That's the whole point, I guess? Ms Duff's fans certainly won't be watching her for her acting skills, that's for sure.

There are a whole generation out there, who believe that modern-day culture only began the moment they were born. Hopefully, some of them will come to learn that perhaps there were actually a few people who came before them, who are worth watching.

Ms Duff should try watching a few of Ms Dunaway's movies. She might learn a few things about honing her acting skills (but, then again, probably not... you would need at least half a brain to do that!?)

I'm with Hill on this one. Just because you're old doesn't mean someone can't come back at you with an insulting remark if you get catty with them first!

who the f is "hill." are you best buds or something? shame on you for casting aspersions on someone for being "old." no respect. i guess you weren't brought up very well.

Hill is short for Hillary. Nevermind our relationship. The fact of the matter is you are an ignorant dim wit and Faye Dunaway is an old, bitter lady.

So, Hilary Duff felt the need to defend herself. What makes her comments so gross is that she resorted to insulting Dunaway's looks rather than her talent. Why? Because Dunaway actually has talent, and so the only thing Duff can use to attack her with is her aging looks. So Pathetic.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:48 PM on 02/04/2009

Ms. Duff, you will not be young forever, and it's unlikely that you'll ever win an Oscar. I know you think you have all the answers, however, with age comes wisdom. Hopefully you'll age quickly.

dogmamma, I understand your sentiment but Dunaway was out of line and pretty much deserved it. Sorry to say, but its true.

dunaway has earned the right to critique other "actresses." duff is a joke of an actress. her disrespect for someone based on aging looks is inexcusable. so is your defense of it.
