Macy's Job Cuts: Up To 100 Chicago Positions May Be Lost

The latest cuts will have a minimal impact on Chicago. An estimated 80 to 100 store workers in the Chicago area are expected to lose their jobs. Macy's, which took over Marshall Field's, operates 16 stores locally.

The Chicago operation went through a similar consolidation a year ago when Macy's closed the old Marshall Field's headquarters in Minneapolis and set up a smaller regional staff in Chicago.
