LOS ANGELES — The mother of the world's longest-living octuplets is being deluged with offers for book deals, TV shows and other business proposals, but has not decided what she might do other than care for her children, her newly hired spokeswoman said Monday.

Hundreds of requests have been made since Nadya Suleman gave birth to six boys and two girls a week ago, said Joann Killeen, president of Killeen Furtney Group, a public relations company.

"She's the most sought after mom in the world right now," Killeen said. "Everyone wants to talk to her."

But Suleman, who remained hospitalized with her children Monday at Kaiser Permanente's Bellflower Medical Center, hasn't decided what she'll do next, Killeen said.

Some of the deals and requests for interviews involve offers to pay, said Killeen and her partner, Mike Furtney. They didn't reveal the amounts being offered, but Killeen noted that raising eight babies will be expensive, adding that Suleman plans to carefully review her financial opportunities.

"Right now her top priority is to be the best mom she can be to all her children," she said. "She's hired us to manage all of those opportunities."

The spokeswoman discounted some published reports that Suleman had already decided to host a television show on parenting. But she added that Suleman does want to eventually tell her story to the world.

"As soon as she's able, she will tell her story, and it's an amazing story," she said.

Suleman, a 33-year-old single mother, already had six children, ages 2 to 7 when she gave birth to her octuplets on Jan. 26.

Her babies continue to grow stronger, the hospital said in a statement Monday. It wasn't immediately known when the octuplets or their mother would be released from the hospital. At the time of the births, doctors said the babies would stay about two months.

"This has been a very good week for the babies. It is always satisfying to be able to see a baby that was born premature continue to get stronger every day," said Dr. Mandhir Gupta, a neonatologist at the hospital.

In seven other documented octuplet births, at least one of the babies died within a week. The world's first live octuplets, born in 1967 in Mexico City, all died within 14 hours.

The first set of U.S. octuplets was born to Nkem Chukwu of Texas on Dec. 20, 1998. A week later, the tiniest infant died of heart and lung failure. The surviving seven siblings celebrated their 10th birthday in December.

Suleman retained the Killeen Furtney Group to represent her last Friday. Furtney said the company, which normally handles corporate clients and crisis public relations, was referred to her by the hospital. Its clients include the Union Pacific Railroad and the California State Parks Department.

Suleman's mother told The Associated Press last week that her daughter has always loved children and had wanted to be a mother since her teens.

Suleman had all 14 of her children through in vitro fertilization, according to her mother, Angela Suleman, who is caring for the other six while her daughter is hospitalized.

sincerely hope media companies will not support this horr ible Frankenstein-ian experiment with human lives. octo mom may be ready for her closeup, but let's hope life is strangely merciful for the infants, and the cameras do not turn.

I hope there are no more crazy women out there trying to get attention by being copy cats.
There is something very wrong with a society that allow mad people doing outrageous things and making money from it.
If I was running the world... the woman will have a hystectomy, if she likes kids, she can work at a nursery, although I will not hire her.
Those kids, they deserve a decent chance in life, stayng with their mother is a kind of child abuse; they should be fostered or adopted out to people with common sense, who wants children and KNOW what having children mean.

This situation is outrageous to say the least. If she had no way to pay for them, knew she couldn't house them, feed them or care for them unless she received endorsements; free money and gifts; and book, movie and tv deals, she shouldn't have had them. She has used her kids to try and obtain a lifestyle that she isn't willing to achieve on her own merit. But given that this is America, she will most likely receive plenty of financial opportunity, get a book, tv or movie deal or all three. America is fickle though. What is popular and exciting today will be old hat, old news, dead story in a matter of time. Then where will she be? Forgotten with 14 kids. Maybe she thinks she is like Angelina Jolie. Angelina had the financial means to support all her kids prior to adopting them or giving birth to them. She isn't looking for a handout or living on welfare. She didn't need her kids to make her a woman, a movie star or bring her notoriety. So, to Nadia, you chose your path by having this many children, you purposed this in your heart and for your life. It is no one's responsibility but your own to provide for these children. It isn't your mother's, your friends' or the taxpayers' job to feed and clothe your children. Stop with the excuses and start being the mother that you say you wanted to be.

i say once she gets all her book deals, money for interviews that all that money she had made be put back into the state for funding all of those births. why should the taxpayers be responsible for her irresponsiblity? isn't there a law for something like that? after all, she is still on welfare even her delusional mind tells herself she is not. make her pay it back. what she should stand to gain should be more than enough to cover the expenses

As disturbed as this human being is, she figured out how stupid the population is.... and how ravenous the pathetic media is..... so cha ching, cha ching!!! Stupid..... or smart?

Who's gonna tell me that she won't become "famous" now because of this dumbed down society that is going to reward her by tuning in?

Children should be put up for mandatory adoption....but then, who wants to adopt children with special needs or lifetime medical problems? Not even Jolie.

I would NEVER ever buy a book or watch a TV show with MONKEY LIPS and her 14 children!

The grandmother was telling the truth, she was implanted with 6 embreyos and one of the egg split and made 8.

Don't believe this for a minute. This is to generate that INCOME that's not coming. Why? The reaction to her is too negative. It is clear she isn't mentally or emotionally stable and her grandmother is over burdened with these babies. Now that we know she had $167,000 and spent it on what --fertility treatments and plastic surgery? We know she is on $450 per month food stamps and 2 of her other six kids have disabilities --so what is the attraction? The diaper companies haven't jumped in why? People who have to pay $10-12 per box for diapers WILL NOT appreciate giving this con-artist any help and the companies can't afford a major boycott by their consumers. So this is just another planted article to make people think businesses are clamoring to read about her --yeah as long as it's free. What type of show? She has proved she isn't a good mother --doing this, she isn't working, she selfishly spent the money on herself and didn't even tell her grandmother, she isn't pretty and who would buy a book about her? So this is a way that those ambulance chasers called publicist can try to make some money. I laughed that this is an amazing story. Sure it is-- a sick, unstable woman fanatically in love with giving birth coupled with a weird doctor using her and hoping to generate publicity for his clinic. Once the kids are removed by the state then what?

Amazing?
What's amazing about this girl?
She figured out a way to become 'famous'.
She had her lips done to resemble Angelina Jolie....Puulleees.
Angelina Jolie adopted children from dire conditions. This girl used a fertility clinic.
She did it with one thing in mind.....according to her PR people, she's always wanted a 'talk show'.
Hmm. I wonder who's going to take care of all the children while she pursues her master's degree and television fame? Of course 'the nannies' she hires will tend to the children...AT TWO MILLION
a pop......she'll be able to move into a much bigger house. When is she going to have the time to actually be with her children? The 'fame' thing is going to take up a lot of her time, especially now that she looks like Angelina Jolie, those offers are pouring in, maybe they'll throw some movie roles in too. We all know where her 'accident settlement' went.
It's all about money and fame....make no mistakes about it.
I'm guessing....out of the 165K, 60k went to plastic surgery and 105K went to the fertility clinic.
She set herself up for this. She's exactly where she wants to be...the most sought out mother in the world. When do i vomit?

I agree, i had a feeling it was going to come to this as soon as i heard what happened.

So it turns out the grandma was lying when she said "a lot less" than 8 were implanted.

Turns out it was six, still a dangerously high number.

Why am I not surprised?

I am still waiting to hear that they've tracked down the Doctor who did this IVF procedure for this woman so many times!! I want to know who he or she is, and I want to hear that their license has been pulled and that they will NEVER work as a doctor again anywhere in this country! Ever.

When are we going to find out who did this in cahoots with that crazy-woman?? It can't be that hard... ask the "mother" who the doctor was and if she won't talk, threaten to take ALL her kids away.
Never mind, take all her kids away anyhow....

Yeah, I want to know why there hasn't been any info on that. I want to know that the guy is being investigated.

the term for this used to be chronic pathological breeder:a woman whose sole sense of identity comes from the act of getting/being pregnant and giving birth.the question remains:Who Is Paying For All Of This And Why?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:04 AM on 02/05/2009

I worked in the area of reproductive law. It cost $20k a pop to do these procedures. Unfortunately, a lot of people who do it become obsessed with having kids because they can't naturally.

Ever since the whole A. Jolie thing I have become sensitive about children. We should love having children, not become obsessed with them and use them for personal gain. There really is no reason for this type of behaviour.

It is emotionally unhealthy to not be able to provide the required "lap time" or nuturing time for children thats why most doctors recommend you wait 2 yrs inbetween. No amount of money, nannies, grandmothers or paid servants are going to really be able to affectively help raise and nurture this many young children. Some of the children will suffer, especially those in the middle. This is the real problem.

Raising children has more to do about the nuturing, time and attention you can give them. Lots of money will not change this. This applies to this Suleman woman and those rich celebrities. They give motherhood a bad name.

The situation with Angelina Jolie is NOTHING like this situation; WHY do people insist on comparing them??

Angelina ADOPTED children already born and unwanted on this planet!
Angelina did NOT use IVF or fertility drugs.
Angelina ADOPTED more children than she gave birth to
Angelina has SIX children of various ages
Angelina can well afford to help children around the world through her many charities and contributions and she can well afford to raise 6 kids properly and send them all to private schools etc etc.

HOW is this the same as the Crazy Baby Machine Woman? Please stop comparing them!

Wow, what a fluff piece on a woman that should have had her uterus forcibly removed years ago.

Wow, what happened to all those harsh words the mother had for her daughter, now this article only quotes the nicest things her mom said in the tirade.

I just hope social services doesn't let book deals and money offers stop them from doing their job.
