Scalia

Legal Times:

Where others fear to tread, a 20-year-old college student from Tequesta, Fla.,boldly stepped forward Tuesday to ask Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia a question he did not like during a public appearance in West Palm Beach. "That's a nasty, impolite question," said Scalia, himself an expert on tough questioning, and he at first refused to answer it.

This morning we tracked down student Sarah Jeck, the Florida Atlantic University honors college junior who incurred Scalia's wrath, and she seemed a little stunned, but not cowed, by his reaction. "He can dish it out, but he can't take it, I guess," she says. "I'm generally a very polite person. I'm really surprised the way it turned out. It was not a preposterous question."

Scalia is an arrogant, know-it-all egomaniac that does not belong on the
Supreme Court. I'm not surprised that he was offended at someone asking
him a question he didn't like.

Justice Scalia's response does not become that of a Supreme Court Justice. His quick anger indicated insecurity. What did Scalia convey in his response? Was Scalia's response productive?

Is it possible to remove a sitting Supreme Court Justice, by a referendum, a ballot initiative or is impeachment the only way?

Thanks. :)

As dumb as Bush appeared to be he was smart enough not to appoint a justice to the supreme court who would appear any smarter than him. Remember it all fits together. Rush is the brains of the outfit and now Joe The Plumber is going to be the guru for economics and policy for the GOP.

Typical arrogance on the part of Scalia and the OverClass he represents.
This Sense of Entitlement is what messed up the World Economy too and what is driving Republicans to go negative on every corrective we need in these times.

She's absolutely right about him, he can dish it out but can't take it for a second.

He thinks waterboarding is fine, but the moment you tie him down and show him the sponge he'd be crying like the baby he is.

This is an example of bold & fearless inquiry. Imagine! this kid is probably 20 years old and has the AUDACITY to question a spooky supreme court justice. I hope she gets recruited by some progressive group to do more probing and investigations.
Wouldn't it be great if Colleges were also rated on their ability to inspire strong backbones and courageous confronting of political leaders and their cronies?

Too bad this type of fearless and independent journalism is discouraged and usually punished in the form of black-balling. Her reputation will follow her into the job market and scare the status quo protectors.

She'll have the tough choice of falling line or nearly starving. Many of them start out principled until they are pressured from the top. Let's hope this encorages more of her type.

He is a pompus arse and good for the student. Hey, Judge, it's a new era and it's called TRANSPARENCY and in ALL things and people who work FOR the people!!!

Scalia is the Tony Soprano of judges and he proved it again here.
