A 100 Job loss sounds small but Andrew Lack decimated the Bloomberg TV division over the last 3 days; morning programming on Monday; axing Bloomberg's evening program line-up on Tuesday and yesterday firing 100 people including all but one field producer and shutting down weekend programming. Weekend programming executive producer, Karin Annus, who just a few weeks ago saw her investigative specials win 2 business EMMYs for Bloomberg was fired. She supposedly never got to meet with Lack. Lack had fired Mike Schneider twice before at CBS and NBC.

You have to wonder what Mike Bloomberg thinks about what's happening at his company.

Lack all through his career had been put in position by Howard Stringer - at CBS, NBC, Sony-BMG. When CBS needed a prime-time magazine show like 20-20 and Dateline, it took Lack 4 or 5 tries to create a successful show. There was Our Times With Bill Moyers, Crossroads, American Parade and finally West 57th Street before he got something people would watch. West 57th Street was credited with eroding journalism and paving the way for tabloid TV. 20-20 and Dateline -for what it's worth - are still on air. West 57th Street quickly disappeared.

Lack showed up at Sony BMG alienating most of the music industry players and laying-off 2000 employees. He started a movie division there before his ouster. And just before showing up at Bloomberg, Lack executive-produced the successful movie Cadillac Records.

A shame. Blomberg seems to actually provide some real news, instead of 99% spin like so many others

When does FOX begin it's layoffs? Now that would be a recession bi-product to celebrate.
