Bristol Palin: ESPN Headquarters Inspired Her Name

I Like ItI Don’t Like It

In an interview with Esquire (quotes from which caused a minor media scuffle in January), Sarah Palin reveals the source of her daughter Bristol's name:

Two meanings in Bristol's name: I worked at the Bristol Inn, and Todd grew up in Bristol Bay. But also, Bristol, Connecticut, is the home of ESPN. And when I was in high school, my desire was to be a sportscaster. ESPN was just kicking off, just getting off the ground, and I thought that's what I was going to do in life, is be one of the first woman sportscasters. Until I learned that you'd have to move to Bristol, Connecticut. It was far away. So instead, I had a daughter and named her Bristol.

She also gave Bristol some advice on her upcoming marriage:

This is what I've been telling Bristol, before she gets married, is, Bristol, there are definitely gonna be tough parts in marriage. You have to look at those tough times and remember that you have essentially a business contract with this person. You've signed an agreement: You're going to be together. And you look at it that way as you work through the tough times, because I guarantee the better time is there on the other side. That's how we've looked at it.

ESPN Vice President Mike Soltys suggests it could be worse: there are a number of children named ESPN.

He hasn't heard of another Bristol, but "it wouldn't surprise me if there are others," Soltys said.

Bristol Mayor Art Ward tells the local paper that it's probably for the best that Palin stayed in Alaska.

"You can't see Russia from here," he said.

This is the best you can do in the Palin bashing marathon on HuffPo?

Raze Palin's daughter about a name that she liked of a town in CT?

If they pass national healthcare HuffPo will need some serious PDS therapy that may bankrupt the US.

I agree. It would be terrible if the kid gets so teased that he grows up with a lot of anger and starts palling around with terrrorizers. That would be a tragedy. Then we'd have to elect him to be president.

"And if you believe that, I've got a bridge to nowhere I'd like to sell you."
What a ninny.

Is Piper named after a model of a Louis Vuitton bag, like the one she carried throughout the campaign?

I believe Piper was named for an airplane that is popular in Alaska. A sixth child would be named Cub.

I assumed she was named for the British rhyming slang.

Going with that thought, her next kid might be called Fox Murdoch.
Oh you know she wants her own show!

If it had been a boy would it have been "Patrick Olbermann Palin?"

Apparently, she hasn't yet learned that it's better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. Sar.ah, please put a sock in it. Or, maybe not - every time you talk, your ratings plummet further.

I seriously doubt this as a tactics to influence ESPN to get positive coverage in next election season and support from ESPN network, as this network has the biggest sports and games fans in US.

Dear Sarah; I know this fame thing is complicated, and at times can be overwhelming, but here is the upside. You will always have your fame, even if politics wasn't your bag. Just think, Vanna can't keep turning those letters forever. If that's not available, there is always reality T.V. Who knows, Celebrity Rehab may come in handy, depending on your future actions. And last, but not least, infomercials will always be big. When you have had enough of the "gotcha journalists", and the pesky questions they keep asking, call me. I'd love to be your agent.
P. S. Don't rule out Celebrity Apprentice, Trump loves you.

What Palin failed to do was to give her daughter the most important advice about SEX.

That wasn't the reason she gave for the name before. What, we can't remember trivia? Also -- you're describing a non-religious marriage, toots. A civil contract marriage. Which I'm actually all for, but you have claimed marriage as a religious right. Open mouth, insert leg.

Paln is pretty interesting, she definitely relates to feminism. Her explanation of marriage sounded like the definition a feminist would give. One thing is for sure, she isn't a traditional conservative at all. I don't get where all the conservative base gets their panties in a twist supporting this woman. I guess the whole world has gone crazy and no one anymore thinks a baby should be raised primarily by the mother. The woman baffles me and so does the rabid support she gets from conservatives.
