A Democratic interest group that has been targeted Republican Senators opposed to the stimulus plan has now invested in a new set of ads, honing in on three centrist, GOP lawmakers, looking to bolster support for the plan.

"It's critical that the Senate pass President Obama's jobs and economic recovery bill right away," the ad from Americans United for Change argues. The group represents a large coalition of liberal interest and organized labor groups.

No matter how much they praise the republican thugs in Congress the will not play nice. I can't remember who said this, bipartisanship is over rated. In this case it is also so true. The publicans problem is that the stimulus package was written not by republicans but by Democrats. Their other problem is that they are forgetting they lost the election and we won. They also know that about 15% of the Democratic majority consists of "blue dog democrats" who vote republican on economic legislation. They also know that they can filibuster any piece of legislation they want because the republicans in the Senate will not vote for the country but for the party. To Senate republicans it is party first and foremost and country second. It is time to fight back. It is time to force the Senate to force the republicans to really filibuster a piece of legislation by talking, and talking and talking until they stop talking . No more Mr Nice Guy, Senator Harry Reid.

Oh yeah, praise them one and all for leading the charge to fully eliminated the allocation of $1 billion for early education; fully eliminated the allocation of $98 million for school food programs for poor hungry children; and fully eliminated the allocation of $16 billion for school construction.

Thank god we have those dedicated GOP leaders and centrist dems looking after our taxpayer dollars—otherwise those damn liberals would have given all our money way to those damn children instead of those poor, hurtin' Wall Street swindlers.

I'd be cheering these three if they had not ripped help for education out of this package.

These are the same people behind getting the Iraq war off the table as an election issue in 2002, 2004, 2006, and impeachment of Bush off the table, and every other Democratic Party sell-out of the last eight years.

This group's (Americans for Change) leadership is from a consulting firm called Hildebrand Tewes whose partners Steve Hildebrand and Paul Tewes served as staffers for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC). It's a DLC front.

The "centrists" have delivered up the poison pill. The increased focus on tax cuts is going reduce the stim's effectiveness. The people who receive the tax cuts will put the proceeds away in a bank or reduce their debts. The money will end up in the bank's coffers, paying off their bad bets, and not in the general economy. At 43% tax cuts, the Republicans and Blue dogs haved destroyed the prospects of the stimulus plan working.

Furthermore, they've put the Republicans in better position. They can only benefit if the plan fails.

Some Democrats are not smart. The Stimulus Bill has not been passed yet. Don't build people up before the votes are in. Once you make them heroes , intelligent and smart politicians, if they change their minds it gonna be hard to say they are on the wrong side.

There is an old saying in the 'dirty south". Don't count your chickens before they hatch.

Politically incorrect, but applicable here.

I applaud everyone that supported the stimulus bill.
Those that do not support it will not be re-elected....and they shouldn't be.

The only way to save this country is to vote every Republican out of congress in 2010. Of course I know that isn't possible. The Repubs in the house are all in very conservative safe districts. Mostly in the deep south and mountain west. Although even my state which is usually solid red has some prospects for change. I am working to help get rid of Jim Bunning in 2010. Voted one of the worst senators by Time magazine, he is an embarrassment and needs to go. With the retirements in vulnerable states we may have a chance for a rethuglican proof senate.

How did Liberman get in the picture? He is in so many pictures on both sides of the aisle, I think he just sorta skulks around the Senate looking for anyone with a camera. When he spots one, he runs over and squeezes into the shot. Nice to know he's good at something.

Lieberman got in the picture because Obama's call for bipartisanship made Lieberman a power to reckon with.

Lieberman one of the four who came up with this bill. Susan Collins and Arlen Specter from the Republican caucus, Ben Nelson and Joe Lieberman from the Democratic caucus. In an Obama bipartisan government, keeping Joe Lieberman in the Democratic caucus elevated him to a position of power and leadership.
