Maggie Gyllenhaal And Peter Sarsgaard Now Together On Stage

there is an added frisson to their coming collaboration in "Uncle Vanya" (which opens on Thursday and runs through March 8), one of the rare instances when the two will appear together in a professional capacity.

Mr. Sarsgaard and Ms. Gyllenhaal said they would work together more often if there were more low-risk opportunities like this, at a small Off Broadway theater with an accommodating director.

"It is only about the experience of doing it, and with your lover; why would we engage in anything any other way than that?" Mr. Sarsgaard said. "Why would we join forces commercially? It would be ----"

Maggie is not attractive at all and that goes to show that talent does have its place in Hollywood. Not everyone is size 2 and blond.

Though not the plastic surgeon idea of beauty, she is adorable. Adorable with a great personality, attitude & talent. All combined, that makes her 1 of the most beautiful working actresses in the business.
Size 2 blonds with overly inflated lips & breasts are very overrated.

My two cents:
The headliner in this production should be Mamie Gummer, doing really moving work in the role of Sonya. Denis O'Hare makes it look difficult, and Gyllenhaal's monochromatic performance is an eyesore (and an earsore) from beginning to end. Sarsgaard is very fine. (I hope that he has a joyous home life.) The problems of presenting dialogues and conversations in the black box space encumbered by Santo Loquasto's intentionally maze-like set were not solved. Unfortunately two wonderful performances do not redeem such a misbegotten production of this very refined ensemble piece.

Peter Sarsgaard is one of the most enigmatic and interesting actors on today's celebrity stage. You can't take your eyes off of him when he is in a film.
