They wanted A-Rod to break Barry Bonds Home run record.

They have hounded Bonds out of baseball. I wonder if they will go after A-Rod like they did Barry Bonds?

Oh.......I forgot. Barry Bonds is African American.

So many have lied for so long about MLB and steroids. When your watchdogs (media) become cheerleaders and lap dogs, they become kissing cousins.

Why did so many in baseball: players, mangers, owners, media all lie for so long?
The answer is the disease.

Best player in baseball, no doubt.

However, he is so hated that if the steroid use is real, he can kiss the hall of fame goodbye.

I don't know what they're going to do about A-Rod, Bonds, Clemens, any other names that come out. Baseball created this mess in the 90s by looking the other way. They all knew what was going on -- the owners, the general managers, Selig, the union -- but they were too busy making money to care.

What an athlete (or entertainer) does to enhance his performance is his/her business, even if the choice is to use a dangerous substance. The choices made may be foolish or worse, but it's the one who chooses who suffers if there is a problem. If the substance is banned, then the taker should be punished like any other person. But if it is a substance that can be bought, what is the point of a league ban? This is just PR, to make spectators feel better, because they are enjoying a "clean" sport and that makes them "clean" too. The reality is that athletes have been doing this for years. Let's stop the hypocritical pretense that we didn't know. And let's stop pretending that athletes are "role models": they are no better or worse than the rest of us.

The big problem with steroids is that it filters down to younger and younger users. It starts with the pros, then college players start using them so they will get drafted, then high school players use them so they can get college scholarships ... even Little Leaguers and Pop Warner football players have been taking them.

The notion that taking steroids is a victimless crime is nonesense. MLB and other sports set rules against steroids to create a competitive environment in which the best natural talent succeeds and no one is forced to harm themselves to perform competively. Those players who take steroids or HGH are genuinely cheating, but even worse, they are depriving "clean" players of the benefits of their talent (and perhaps even the possibility of pursuing a livelihood in pro sports) if they did not have to compete against players who are artificially pumped up.

Not true...;;should cheaters hold records when other players played by the rules?? Kick all these cheaters out of the game and let 'em flip burgers at McD.

Remember when?

Baseball had just gotten done with the players strike and the lock out, Baseballs ratings were terrible and people were sick and tired of watching overpaid jerks play bad baseball.

Then there was Sosa and Big Mac and the chase for Maris' record and everyone forgot about how much they hated what baseball had become.

Have you seen Sammy Sosa lately? He weighs about a buck eighty. Have you seen Big Mack in front of a Grand Jury lately? No?

Is Jose Conseco the most honest man in the MLB?

What a nightmare

The difference between Phelps and A-Rod is that A-Rod's steroid use compromise the integrity of the game of baseball. It's impossible to tell how much his drug use enhanced his numbers. Phelps pot smoking has zilch to do with his Olympic records. Got it Phelps bashers?

Why should we care?

It really is the same old story. Jose hinted that Alex wasn't clean. Curt called him a freak. We have yet to hear what Madonna says about him - but we sure hope that this helps to clean up MLB.
