The only crime against humanity here was that the family forced to suffer and mourn for 17 years.
Their daughter died 17 years ago; keeping her "alive" because of someone else's religious beliefs is unconscionable. Culture of life... ridiculous.
and the Vatican????
Please. The Vatican is responsible for the deaths of how many women through history?
They hate women, but love the womb - it produces men.

What a tragedy for this family.
I hope their memories and the images of the beautiful vibrant Eluana can wash away the pain of the recent past and the shell that has now passed

Did Jebbie's invaluable point of view come to the fore? it was ok for his bro to sending thousands to their deaths but he sure had ideas about cases like this. maybe he doesn't watch foreign news.

The religious creeps are brain dead themselves. Why don't they just go and hide under a stone and never come out again.

She was dead as a viable spirit with thoughts, imagination, emotions and everything that made her human 17 years ago. I am thankful that they let her body go. Dust unto dust...Amen.

And one of the reasons Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi cited for keeping this woman on life support was because she could, feasibly, carry a baby?!?

Is the womb so sacred to these right-to-lifers that they would allow something freakish like a woman--for all intents and purposes brain dead for 17 years--to be either r.a.p.e.d (for that is basically what it would amount to) or to be impregnated by IVF?

What the heck is wrong with these people? Allow her the dignity of a peaceful death and do not drag her into your culture wars.

All the members of the American Pro Life movement will have to turn around and go back home. Your too late to stand outside and pray the rosary. Maybe Bill Frist or Tom Delay could cover your expenses.

Italy's economy is shrinking and has a public debt over 100% of GDP. Italy's parliament has better things to do than micromanage the life of one of its citizens. Don't emulate America's GOP. Not even Americans like the Republicans anymore.
