Octuplets Unveiled, Mom Defends Decision, Grandmother Calls Unconscionable (VIDEO)

Part two of Ann Curry's exclusive with Nadya Suleman, who gave birth to octuplets two weeks weeks ago, aired Monday. In addition to talking about her relationship with the babies' father, Suleman toured the neonatal unit and introduced her babies, with names like Noah and Malia, to the world. Nadya said the biological father, "didn't know what to say. He needs time... He expressed desire to know the six kids" before the most recent eight were born. She added they talk a couple times a year and she calls him "a friend."

Meanwhile her mother, the grandmother, gave an interview slamming her daughters decision, calling her unconscionable, and also gave a tour of the cramped, messy home.

[She] said daughter Nadya Suleman, 33 and single, has "no means to support" fourteen children.

Angela Suleman said that she's been housing and supporting her daughter Nadya and her six grandchildren by a previous in vitro fertilization procedure in a "cramped" apartment for years.

Suleman said that her daughter "spent a lot of money on toys," but never contributed rent or food money and failed to tell her mother about more than $167,000 that records show she received from worker's compensation claims.

The mother of the California octuplets has let an offer for free, 24-hour nursing care by a nonprofit group lapse. Nadya tell me why did you refuse help from this group as this is what you are going to need when the babies come home.

If her children were a herd of animals, the government authorities would be all over her. Hopefully the proper authorities take care of this situation. Unstable is the only word that comes up in my mind when I think of her.....

What is worng with this world? You have too many kids to count and don't even have a job. What ever happened to RESPONSIBILITY??? You expect the taxpayers to pay for your poor choices? I don't think do. I think we should all just stop paying taxes to prevent these kids of drains on the system. Here's an idea... if you like kids so much, start a daycare service. Having that many kids with no income to support them is immature, careless and just plain stupid. I don't think the welfare system should help careless people like this.

So, what you love kids, buy a freaking cat .... kids are not animals and are not 2 be neglected and even though her news broadcast show how shes such a good mom and everything is lovely..its unreal because we all know these kids are going without I m more than positive that sooner or later we will hear about her children going without food,shelter, or clothing yet the mom is gonna be up at the nail salon getting her nails done and getting her lip injections every month... and we know she is going to be using her kids disabilty checks to get that crap done.. maybe if shes lucky some of her octoplets will be elgibile for a ssi check ..WOW self made milliionare ....
and by the way I m gonna set up a website so you can donate to me and my two boys..
you know im single and im tired of working so go ahead and send me your money I deserve it ......

I think that when she was working at the psych ward she caught a bet of the craziness herself! I also noticed that she has her nails done in all the pictures, how did she get the $30 to $20.00 a month to get her nails done? Not to mention the fill ins?? Let me guess she used her kids ssi checks to get her nails done? I am a single mom of 2 boys and I would love to have some more kids but you know what :
1 I am not married
2. I only make $13.00 an hour
3. I can barely afford $70.00 a week for daycare just for 1 child
4. I only have 3 bedrooms
5. lets not forget THERES A FREAKN RECESSION
6 I cant afford to buy a bus to fit all my kids in, just think if the gas prices go back up?

The article said that along with her disability payment, she is also receiving 600 dollars a month for each of three children who have the following disabilities: autism, adhd and a speech impediment.


get 956 dollars more in food stamps each had get 59 bucks a piece and she getting 793 a month from ssi . min for state of california every state has dif amount of ssi . min is 637 set by soc.sec rest is paid by the state tax payers ca is 793 .

Having three children of my own, unemployed, B.S. in computer science, and currently living with a relative this lady is crazy! I went back to school to complete my bachelors and on occasions had to take my two kids with me ages 12 & 8, needless to say it wasn't easy what this woman is attempting to do is impossible! Besides from the pictures on the news of how the other six children live is appalling.

Need Engineers pretty badly. You will have to learn Game Programming, vs a "standard" computer science.....but thought I would just throw that out their.

The Mother of these fourteen children doesn't strike me as a care taker, so much as a collector of children. To hear her own mother speak of her this is what I am hearing. I feel sorry for the children for I forsee the state stepping in with the bunch. No way does this woman come across as being able to care for these children.

One mother cannot possibly give 14 children the love and nurturing they require. I hope that the children's protective services in her area are ready to go in and rescue these children. Many people are looking to adopt babies.

Her mother is a little late with the complaining. I believe that Nadye is an only child and perhaps Mom and Dad just could never say NO to her.

The doctor is very irresponsible. He should help raise his little creations.

I also wonder about the "rest of the story". Is there some other lunatic, the father, who bankrolled the whole project?

I dont know if you realize this, but back in the day, 1920's+ mothers were regularly having large families. Now I am not saying that this is the same thing.

But the whole "One mother cannot possibly give 14 children" line is a little B.S. and makes you look short sighted.
Now yeah, it requires A FAMILY element, a loving family, a Village type of mentality, but One mother can do it fine.

My grandmother had 8 children, and she and my grandffather gave them a loving home.
And her sisters also had 9-12 children, and my grandfather was 1 of 10 children. All came from loving nurturing homes.

The constitution makes it clear that people have the right to bear arms, yet the government has the right to place limitations - there are waiting periods, not all guns and ammo are available for sale, there are concealment laws, and you can't bring guns into places like schools.

The constitution makes it clear that people have the right to freedom of speech, yet the government has limitations, things like libel/slander and shouting "fire" in a crowded theatre.

The constitution makes it clear that people have the right to freedom of religion, yet nobody can do human sacrifices just because their religion says they should.

Women have the right to the option of abortion, as well as the right to have kids. So why would it be any different than the ones mentioned above and somehow magically exempt from legislation of specific aspects, particularly something like limits on unsafe medicine?

very simple:

Gun regulations, in general, are wrong. They infringe on the right to bear arms.

The right to limit on the freedom of speech is also very simple: the only speech that can be limited is speech that is an aggression against another human being, such as libel or slander.

And you can't do human sacrifices because, again, that is an aggression against another human being.

and yes, women have the right to have kids. You have yet to come up with a good reason as to why the government should curb that right.

Implanting more than the recommended amount of embryos should not be a crime because there is no force or fraud involved and there is no aggression against other human beings because of it.
