MyNetwork TV Desperately Overhauls Programming Strategy

MyNetworkTV, a unit of the News Corporation, announced Monday that it would refashion itself, beginning in September, from a broadcast-network model to a "hybrid" service that would continue to supply programs to its affiliate stations.

The new "program service," as the News Corporation is calling it, will retain the name but be transformed into a model closer to the television syndication business. That means that program suppliers will be allowed to sell as much as half the commercial time in the service.
