Once considered the "breadbasket of Africa," Zimbabwe is now struggling to feed its population. It is estimated that nearly half of Zimbabwe's 11 million people are teetering on the brink of starvation. Supplies of basic commodities such as flour, milk, cooking oil and water are running desperately low -- and are increasingly impossible to afford. In Bulawayo, Zimbabwe's second largest city, this has resulted in empty grocery store shelves -- and a thriving, illegal black market. In Zimbabwe's Life Lines, we witness the shortages of food and water firsthand and meet a young man who survives by working on the black market.

Why can't the African Union ask South Africa to intervene and do something; its not like Zimbabe's soilders would do anything - they're as broke as anybody, and they were rioting just last month. South Africa should intervene for humanitrian reasons, Mugabe must go if any significant forign aid is going to go in and have an effect. Otherwise his kleptocracy is just going to either let Zimbabwe starve to death while they eat caviar, or steal half of the humanitarian support to enrich themselves.
Mugabe must go, without his removal nothing is possible. With it, everything.

When a country doesn't have oil, it's dictator's actions are somehow (inexpicably) less odious than the actions of a dictator in an oil rich country.

It's sad how feigned morality follows money.

BHO needs to do something. This is a huge problem that I though he would be up for dealing with.

Stellar job Mugabi, you should be so proud. Your hate has reaped its harvest.

This is such a terrible and sad situation, I hope that somehow these people get help. I hope the world will start paying more attention and taking some action instead of simply giving lip service to the problem. We're all part of the human family, my heart breaks for these people and I don't know how to help as just one ordinary person with no $$$ living in the tanking US economy (although this certainly should put some perspective on what true poverty actually is). I wish some of the privileged celebrity super-rich would help. I wish that world governments would take stronger actions against Mugabe. I wish Mugabe would choke on his caviar and croak at that lavish b-day party he is throwing himself. So much trouble and evil in the world, so many innocent victims. I wish I could do more than sitting here feeling sad and helpless.
