UPDATED WITH RETRACTION: Terrence Howard Defends Chris Brown: "He's A Good Guy" (VIDEO)

UPDATE:
Late Wednesday Howard retracted the videotaped comments below, which he made Tuesday night.

"When they asked me about Chris Brown the other day, I was in no way aware of what he had been accused of," Howard said in a statement. "Had I known, I would have never had said something so insensitive."

PREVIOUSLY:
A Hollywood.TV cameraman caught Terrence Howard outside of Beverly Hills restaurant Mr. Chow, and the actor defended alleged Rihanna-assaulter Chris Brown.

Here's what he said:

"It's just life, man. Chris is a great guy, man. He'll be all right. And Rihanna knows he loves her, you know? They'll be alright. 'Cause everybody gotta get out of the way."

Chris is a PAB for what he did. He's getting called out for what he did and he's going to have to deal with it like a man. No accuses for him.

No one has any facts about what has actually taken place. I try these cases. Until there is evidence, you really don't know. The only actual fact is that he is being charged with 'criminal threats'. A domestic assault charge would be the assumption, but that is not the case. I know we're all consumed with celebrity, but it's probably wise to withhold judgment for a bit until more actual facts are released.

According to the statement, Mr. Howard did not know about the beating incident. He clearly stated that if he had known, he would not have said such a thing. The reporter should have been clear in his question to Mr. Howard.

The problem here is EVERYBODY SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT HE MEANT AND ARE SURE THAT WHAT HE SAID INITIALLY WAS A REFLECTION OF HIS KNOWING WHAT BROWN WAS ACCUSED OF...How in the heck do you know what he did and didn't know and what he meant?

Exactly. The story on Chris Brown and Rihanna a couple of weeks ago was how Rihanna's possesivness was causing problems in their relationship. It's possible that's what Howard was commenting on.

The man has said point blank that he didn't know what happened. And why are you drawing inferences to what he DID say prior to having that knowledge?

It says to me that in star circles, some things have been said about perhaps outside opinion that was unfavorable to their relationship. Perhaps one of them confided in him and that's what he spoke to.

Why does it always have to be negative? Dang.

I think when the story first broke it was suggested that it may have been another woman. That might explain some of it, but doesn't explain why Howard would've been ok with that.

Mr. Howard is known in certain circles to be a little "heavy handed" as well. He knew what he was saying.. He also thinks it's okay to "tighten your woman up" when she gets out of hand.. Mr. Howard needs to get off the junk!
