I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Oh, Lindsey Graham, he is one of our favorites! The South Carolina Senator has, for weeks, cast himself as one of the stimulus package's most fervent opponents. This time last week, he and John McCain were in the well of the Senate, performing a grand duetto buffo di due gatti against the stimulus, and when the media metanarrative required that someone take a ream of paper and wave it around in the air with dramatic flair, Graham was only too happy to accommodate.

Ah, but now the bill's passage draws nigh, and lest you think he was going to school us all by allowing South Carolina to become a laboratory for whatever the hell economic plan he thought would work better, guess again. Graham will take the dollars, thank you, even if he's not convinced it will be of any good! Or so he told Wolf Blitzer:

BLITZER: South Carolina will get money out of this bill.

GRAHAM: Yes.

BLITZER: Should South Carolina take the money?

GRAHAM: I think that, yes, from my point of view, I -- you don't want to be crazy here. I mean, if there's going to be money on the table that will help my state, but I've got a job to do up here, and that is to try to help people and not damn the next generation. We had a $415 billion package to help people who have lost their jobs, that cut taxes, that create new jobs. We've got a spending bill, not a job creation bill. And we're being all things to all people.

Shucks, Lindsey, if you don't think it'll do South Carolina any good, by all means, don't take it!

Not crazy? Only if severely deluded while self-important qualifies. If so, then COME ON DOWN, Lindsey Graham!

Well don't that beat all, if more of them GOPPERS play it like this they is gonna ruin their chances at the next election.
No doubt about it, Obama beat 'em in November and he's gonna keep on beaten 'em whether they like it or not.
The guy is simply too smart for them.
And what else do we notice?
In like less than one month Obama has done more real work than BushyBoy did in the whole eight of his years. Makes you think the president has been on holiday for eight years.....

This guy is the slimiest of all politicians.
He has the most distrustful demeanor of any PERSON I have ever seen much less that of a politician.

All these post saying that the people of republican states should get any of this money being printed and handed out free, does not make sense.

Does that mean that all the tax raises that were instituted by Clinton and Carter should be rolled back in my state? My senators voted NO on every tax increase over the last 30 years. I want my money back! Also, when the need to raise taxes to pay for this socialism arrives, and my Senators vote against it, I hope you all will support my state's request to not pay them. I hope the standard stays the same, and there are no more democrook double standards applied!

keep whining taxboy it'll give you something to do while the democrats actually run this country, unlike your persistent google eyes which tell you that impoverishing the good people of this nation is like totally ok while your BushyBoy just piles up the profits for the top 10%. Really get a grip, nothing is for free in this world, even the free market is making us pay now!

Pls tell Lindsay that a 150 Billion Tax rebate bill created not one job just this spring... 450 Billion will not do it either anymore than BUSH's 4 trillion in tax cuts did.. notta job.. lost 2 million...

However this bill sucks... Needs less tax cuts, more MFG jobs/ and infrastructure jobs.

Needs somethig to stop housing price declines and foreclosures.. Notta. MFG Jobs and the foreclosures are the underlying problems. Too many foreclosures, too few MFG jobs. The Bill indicates Congress does not know the problem yet.

The amount needed to be above one trillion. Putting a half a coat of paint on your boats bottom, does not keep the barnicals off or make the boat useable... Half a solution is sometimes no better than no solution.

Regards

Democratic leaders are hailing the economic stimulus bill as a way to "invest quickly into the economy," but according to a Wall Street Journal estimate, only about 12 cents of every dollar will actually go to "something that can plausibly be considered a growth stimulus."

This story needs more meat. IT's not like Sen. Graham is going to receive a check and have to deliver the check himself to the people (State Politicians) himself. Get real folks....This is much to do about nada!

The article your are referring to was a "op-ed" from a Paper own by the same people that own Fox News.

I knew that he would parade around all puffed up like he had principles but the instant he can get some cash he is quiet.

"I mean, if there's going to be money on the table that will help my state..."

-Right, thanks for obstructing.

It's amazing. Like, if you are against the bill, don't take the money. Even kids know that, if you tell your mother you don't like cheese cake, you can't eat it when she makes it. Simple 1+1 = 2 :)

actually I think these jerks that voted against the stimulus bill should not be able to benefit from the bill in any way . then let them explain to their voters how stupid they are.
