NEW YORK — Make room, Paul Shaffer. U2 will be on David Letterman's "Late Show" for a full week to promote their upcoming album.

The band will be Letterman's musical guest each night from March 2 to 6. It's the first time a musical guest has been given a solid week on the CBS show.

U2's new album, "No Line on the Horizon," is to be released that week. The band played its first single, "Get on Your Boots," to kick off the Grammy Awards on Sunday.

The band last appeared on the "Late Show" in October 2001.

An entire week...for promotional purposes? What a treat! But, was there ever any doubt that U2 would continue to sell a gazillion albums?

How fun will this be!! I will have to record it though. What a pain to grow older but still get up before the roosters....

Best news I've heard all week! Also wholly agree with learntofly...the mix was awful at the Grammys...I mean, really it is a music awards show, and you can't get the mix right? ...the sound used to be better on the Ed Sullivan show!

yay! what a funny combination, but i would listen to then anywhere. and i can't wait for the new album. i was little when they first came out and have listened to them so much and so faithfully, i feel like their work is the soundtrack to much of my life. that might sound obsessive, but you must admit, they are catchy.

Meanwhile, the White Stripes are reuniting for O'Brien's last show.

Quality draws quality, and Letterman takes this round.

Well there's a reason to watch Leno for a week. Anything's better than Bonio and his pontificating.

there's NOTHING better than bono and his pontificating. but i'd agree with you that i don't care much to hear it from bonio. ; )

I am looking forward to this very much! Love their music. Hard pressed to find a U2 song I dislike, so I'm pretty tickled to be able to see them perform new material for free. Woohoo!!

Perhaps some don't agree with Bono's politics or opinions, but you can't deny the passion of his convictions or enormous amount of personal time he has invested in the causes. Very impressive.

Wow. Times must really be rough if U2 has to shill for a whole week to move units.

I'm a U2 fan but the verses to the new single sound like Subterranean Homesick Blues and the chorus sounds like something the Beatles might have written while suffering from the flu....

... and a little bit of Billy Joel.

Bono - there isn't a setting he won't miss to get lots of attention. If he has to promo his latest so hard, it can't be that good.

Bono overload.

Or maybe the economy is making it harder to sell your album. It is U2 so I am sure it will be good.

With Ireland a single letter away from becoming Iceland, I'm
glad these hypocrites are paying all their taxes to the Netherlands.

I can't help but think of South Park every time I see a pic of Bono now, LOL.

Hope Letterman's got better sound than at the Grammy theater. They never did get the sound mix fixed the entire night.
