McClatchy:

Rep. John Mica was gushing after the House of Representatives voted Friday to pass the big stimulus plan.

"I applaud President Obama's recognition that high-speed rail should be part of America's future," the Florida Republican beamed in a press release.

Yet Mica had just joined every other GOP House member in voting against the $787.2 billion economic recovery plan.

I think the only way to stop these idiot Republican obstructionists from continuing with their obstructionist game is to institute a rule whereas any and all Congress person who votes "no" on bills such as this economic stimulus bill will automatically forefit the right of their respective States and/or districts to receive even one penny from said stimulus plan. As it stands, they can play obstructionists and still reap the benefits of the bill, and not be made accountable for their obstructionist destructive behavior. If by voting "no" they forefit the right of their states and/or districts to benefit from the stimulus bill, they will really have to answer to their constituents who I am sure are suffering as much as eveyrone else. Instituting this forefeiture rule in Congress will certainly eliminate the partisan games quickly!

Obama told booing crowds during the campaign: "No need to boo....just vote" And it worked!
Now I say to you, on behalf of Obama: "No need to hate Republicans.....just vote them out in 2010."
(and encourage everyone you know to do so as well) If we can get the Democrat voter turnout in 2010 to equal 2008, there won't be a Republican left in Congress!

Now GOP thinks some projects in the Recovery bill "are good"?

I'm waiting for them to make a claim that "they wrote the "good" parts in the bill" as soon the Stimulus money provides a kick-start; and will "justify" their opposition to the bill was "purley based on their Fiscal Conservative Ideology"............

All of America knows what the GOP "DID"......Payback will in 2010....

These comments from the same party whose mouthpiece, Karl-the-Rover, said our President passed the largest PEACETIME spending bill in history. Lies mean nothing to The Republiban. Words are uttered without regard to their actual meaning. As long as they keep up a word blizzard, it doesn't matter if those words are sensible in anyway. Can anyone still wonder why they love Sarah Palin? She can string together more words without meaning than any person I have ever seen.

Unfortunately almost all the supporters of the Republican party aren't either capable of or willing to recognize the true facts about the remaining right wing extremists within the government.

If these people started caring about the future of the country and themselves the GOP will only have 2 alternatives which are either change their philosophies or become extinct. Greed has become the catch phrase for capitalism and now it is exposed so hopefully people can get over their fear of government working for the people and not for the few.

The only way to make these people think would be if they had to forefeit any right to a penny of the stimulus package for their states and/or districts, then they will see the results of their stupid obstructionist games first hand, and only then will they begin to think beyond what their party leaders tell them to think.

I can't believe there are still commenters in that article blasting democrats. Really, if you still don't understand what is in the bill and are convinced that the dems are just funding their pet projects, how do you not hold the republicans accountable? The blind hatred towards all thing associated with democrats is just crazy.

These Rushpublicans are a joke. They will have to take another thumping in 2010 and then hopefully they will learn to be productive.

We can only hope, they are a shameful bunch and I think they are beginning to see they are truly a minority!

Rushpublicans--love it! Now let's tell the happy citizens of Florida that there will be no stimulus bennies for those whose reps voted against the bill. Having your cake and eating it, anyone?

I will be, as all of the readers here should do, be writing letters to the editors of all local papers here in North Carolina. I will talk loudley about the fact that Heath Shuler, a Blue Dog Democrat and our Senator from the obstructionist party, Mr. Burr.
These elected officials from North Carolina have voted in every chance so far to obstruct the business of our country and our state.
Each needs to be called on for opposing the betterment of the voters and citizens of our state and our country.
I strongly urge all that may read this to do the same because we all have elected officials from the obstruction party that are elected to represent Americans of all parties have voted for the failure of our country. Do not allow any republican, but the 3 take credit for any project in our country.
We can do this people! Become the outspoken radical you used to be. Remember from hippie to punk to grunge, rage, rap and on and on, we have almost all been radicals at one time in our lives.
Spread the truth about the obstructionist party!

The republican party has become wholly anti-American...they actually think that letting the economy continue to free fall until the country is ruined will save their precious GOP...well...I tell ya..if that happens...they will be unpleasantly surprised by the poor, hungry, and righteously angry citizens.
They might do well to remember Mussolinis last moments.
That wasn't very pretty.

It should be repeated again and again and again: "The Republicans are the enemy of the people." Their conduct shows they have sold their souls to wealthy elite that pay their freight.

It's what their ideology boils down to, all right.

Just say NO

to poor people

gay people

nonChristian people....

To drugs...

Everything would be solved if everyone spent all their time saying "NO"! to anything but corporate greed.

They are hypocrites and they don't give a whit about the American people. Their obstruction was all about 2010. They are fighting to keep their own jobs, but while kicking us in the teeth.

These are the same people that scream about country first. Not. They do want this president to fail. But what they lose sight of is that, if he fails, we all fail, big time.

Meant to say "Don't think they WON'T try to profit from it in any shape or form. "They'll be sitting right at the spiggot trying to scoop up the cream.

Don't think they will find any way to profit directly from the stimulus package. Just ask their investment bankers... .
