From AP:

Nate Robinson tugged on Superman's cape -- and won.

The diminutive New York Knicks guard beat defending champion Dwight Howard of Orlando in an electrifying slam dunk contest on Saturday night, winning 52 percent of fans' votes.

Clad in an all-green Knicks uniform with green shoes, Robinson used Howard as a prop in the final round, springboarding over the 6-foot-11 center to jam.

"Dwight was a great sport letting me dunk over him," said Robinson, who also won in 2006.

Below are some of the dunks from tonight's contest. The athleticism of these guys never ceases to amaze. While the judges chose Nate Robinson as the winner, we're sure some of you feel differently. Make your case in the comments for the player who you think dunked the best.

I loved the Dominque/Jordan dunk contest! It was classic. Yesteray's dunk contest was okay.

Dominique Wilkins was the best with the WINDMILL dunk.
Then Jordan, then Vince Carter and then Jason Richardson.

Garbage dunk contest.
Rudy was robbed.
Just a big set up to feature the weakest dunker ever Dwight Howard and Nate Robinson in the Superman skit.
They have not had a real dunk contest since Jason Richardson last won.

Weak dunk contest, as it is now when the best dunkers stil do not enter the contest, there were probably 3-4 dunks tops that were even noteworthy, and Huffpost didn't even put up Howard's best dunk. Nothing will compare to what Vince Carter did in 2000, and he will go down as the best dunker the NBA has ever seen.

Rudy was robbed!
That was not a contest. I won't be watching next year for sure.

Nothing will ever compare to Jordan, Spud Webb, Dominique, Clyde the Glyde....They made the dunk contest something to watch!

The most impressive dunk is not in these videos. Dwight Howard's toss from the corner, off the side of the backboard, took amazing skill and timing, esp. for a seven footer.

Because someone has to say it.

The most ridiculous dunk during an actual GAME was Tracy McGrady's fastbreak bouncing the ball off the top of the backboard, jumping from near foul line and catching the ball in the air for a 2-handed smash.

*Dr. J's classic one handed windmill dunk deserves an honorable mention.

Indeed, I distinctly remember that dunk by McGrady... it rocked!

The dunking contest and the home run hitting contest have both run their course.....enough already.

yeah, but many who can dunk and hit gigantic homeruns still appreciate them

weaksauce! The only impressive thing about those dunks was that Nate Robinson can jump that high.

le Bron stole the slam dunk "championship" from Nate Robinson. His insufferable grandstanding announcement that he would suit up for next years tournament hogged the spotlight, that by rights belongs to the winner of the contest. such as it is. popularity contest. the entire spectacle was the NBAs version of professional wrestling. Harlem Globetrotters rather than say the Celtics. Nate instantly became a second ran, with a trophy that was half his size. it was cheap.

Worst dunk contest in years--but I think its all in the design, the plan, the marketing. The fact that Lebron James announced he's entering for 2010 was no accident. Lebron, Lil' Nate, Superman, and throw in Vince Carter and Kobe Bryant and we're back to the days of Dominique, Jordan and Dr. J.

Fernandez was way underrated. Both were scored way too low, the second because the passes took took too long to work out but the dunk was incredibly difficult.
