The Simpsons' New Opening Sequence (VIDEO)

After 20 years the Simpsons have changed their opening sequence. Tonight the show had its premier in HD and with it brought the first revamp of the main titles since 1989.

While some of the old parts remain (Bart still writes on the chalk board, Lisa still saxes her way out of music class, and Homer still throws radioactive material down his shirt) most of it has changed to catch up on 20-seasons worth of character additions. Apu's octuplets now appear in the opening as do Maggie's nemesis, the unibrow baby, and the crazy Texan millionaire, all added since the original sequence was created.

As a side note to fans, check out Marge's groceries, they have changed to include tomacco juice, and Mr. Sparkle detergent.

I LOVED it! I think it perfectly blends the original opening sequence with the full panoply of characters that have become part and parcel of Springfield over the years. Two snaps up!

Hans rules! I love that character for some reason. So pathetic, yet sad and human. Not sure if that was the writer's intention.

That was my favorite part. I also liked the advertisement for Absolut Krusty on the back cover of the magazine that Marge is reading in the checkout line..

The supermarket scanner total was $243.26 before scanning Maggie, and doubled to $486.52 after...does anyone know if there is significance to those numbers?

They always tweak the opening sequence, but this one ends with the couch gag too!

opening sequence was great. but as comic book guy say's "worst episode ever"....really the show used to be much edgier..... the writers need to re watch the old shows again, and some more monty python....
