Gay Snipers Attack Marriage In West Virginia Campaign Ad (VIDEO)

First Posted: 3/19/09 Updated: 5/25/11

Via Christy Hardin Smith comes this new advertisement from an organization from Georgia called Campaign Secrets -- yes, that is their real name -- that has decided to wade into electoral politics in West Virginia with a website: wv4marriage.com. That's where you will find this bonkers ad, designed to scare the bejeezus out of everyone about gay marriage. The moment that already has the blogosphere blowin' up comes about a minute in, when a nuclear family of dedicated, bubble-blowing West Virginians get targeted by THE GAY SNIPERS.

That's not the only good part of the video, though! I also love how gay marriage has brought America under attack from a rain of terrorist push-pins! And how can anyone refute the logic that's presented when they prove the evils of gay marriage through MATH. Same Sex Couple + Affordable Air Fare To San Francisco + ACLU Attorney + Nice Lunch At The Auberge du Soleil + Drive Through Wine Country + Remembering To Save Time To Visit Amoeba Records + Uneventful Return Flight = NIGHTMARE FOR WEST VIRGINIA!!

Anyway, I guess the economy in West Virginia is just killing it, if this is what they are seriously going to worry about this year.

I have a counter-ad.

It's nighttime, camera sees through binoculars, looking in bedroom window of empty room
"nothing to see here"
Binos scan to next house. See empty room
"nothing to see here"
Next house, couple involved under covers, apparently having good time.
"My God! What perversion is going on here! We must put a stop to this! Call the Supreme Court! Activate Moral Outrage!"

Heterosexuality or homosexuality is an orientation God creates within you. This is my religious belief as a Christian, backed up by by the scientific fact that sexual orientation is innate and occurs in the same relative numbers in humanity worldwide.

You are welcome to freedom of your religion, but, like sexuality, you can use it to spread love and promote life and growth, or you can use it to express anger and fear.

The idea of marriage for love is a very recent one--it has been a financial one until the last few hundred years.

I thought you were libertarian in principle.

Where does this stand in your view of getting the gov out of people's lives?

Ah, in California we call them Civil Unions. No church, No Minister, just a marriage license at City Hall. This is not an attack on the Church but a legal demand for equal legal rights given to heterosexual couples. This TV ad conveniently leaves out statistics on hetero domestic violence, divorce, child neglect, rape, torture and abandonment. Oh those pious stone throwers and their glass rap sheets.

if you take out the religious aspect of it.......it works for me.........

First of all; there are religious denominations that have no problem with the Gay Marriage.

Second; the issuance of a marriage certificate and marrying of a couple, irregardless of their gender, is a state matter. It has nothing to do with any religion, unless the couple so chooses to have their ceremony performed in a church. So how does religion figure, at all, into whether the state allows people to be married.

seriously, why do these people give a s--t whether gays get married or not?

these people are disgusting. they don't live in reality, but in some "leave it to beaver" fantasyland. you can say that something would be ideal all you want, but that doesn't make it realistic.

Perhaps their time might be better spent preventing pedophile priests from molesting little boys or Christian ministers decrying homosexuality whilst paying for the services of male prostitutes?

What a pack of hypocrites

One of the things that has been dropped from this discussion of pedophiles is that they mostly go after girls. It's just that the boys make bigger press. Please don't forget us!

WOW! it boggles my mind how a spousal relationship between "Susan and Mary" who live down the block are going to devalue my relationship with my wife and children.

Let's keep Church OUT of State, and State OUT of Church.

Like they say, "if you don't want a gay marriage, then don't get one"!

My sister is gay, and I love her so much, and I feel encourage when I see her struggling to keep her head up and try to survive discrimination.... I know many people said there is a different between the argument of race and gay many State that does not want to recognize their citizens equality, is making the subject a civil right problem...we should keep our eyes open and stop this media attack on citizens of this country...:)

Make sure to go to MySpace.com/Flexxent and watch the video Dreams.....

It is sad to see that one of the most "civilized" country in the world still worries about nonsense’s...why the setae of Virginia rather that using all that money on that ad, use it the money for science, education, progress, we are staying behind in all technologies and sciences progress. It is time to take our country back...Separation of church and State...that what the argument is all about...

Somewhere along the way we've transposed love with carnality. I hope we can right this ship before it's too late.

There can't be many places left in the country where this ad would do more than have most people rolling in the aisles laughing. I suspect that even the typical person opposed to gay rights isn't going to be so dumb as to fall for this stuff.
09:53 AM on 02/18/2009
But they are. You must live in a progressive/liberal area. I happen to live in AZ, specifically central AZ. This area is unbelievably far-right Rush-is-right Republican. People here believe the most bizarre stuff if it's put forth by some christian minister/pastor/priest/bishop/Republican.

Our "leaders" in Congress are leading these folks. Their not voting for the stimulus package is one great example of the far-right stubbornness and submissiveness to power. Spector, Snow, and Collins said they talked with Republicans who admitted they were for the bill, but wouldn't vote for it. Isn't that cutting off one's nose to spite one's face?! Judd Gregg is not his own man.

I frequently talk to my christian friends about my refusal to forgive. I believe that judgement is required every day to protect ourselves from that which is not good for us. I also believe that forgiveness requires previous judgement. Therefore, saying that we must forgive and not judge is an oxymoron. And this is why, instead, I accept whatever has been dealt me today. By accepting I am not buying into the fear engendered from so many pulpits and Congressional offices.

Yes, mamacat, a typical person opposed to gay rights will fall for this stuff--in many areas.

Probably went to W V because they felt they could 'deceive them ' more easily. I mean.... isn't this the main objective of the RNC in trying to get to their 'base '... and the uninformed. And why are they stealing money from the very poor with their contribution message.Verry sad..and Verry Creepy.
