Howard Kurtz: Fox News Should "Apologize For Using Partisan Propaganda" (VIDEO)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 03/19/09 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 02:05 PM ET

A week ago, Fox News tried to pass off a memo from the Senate Republican Communications Center as their own reporting. Unfortunately for the network, they didn't even check the talking points for typos before throwing them on the air. FNC apologized for the mistake -- but not for reprinting a Republican press release and calling it journalism. On Sunday's edition of CNN's "State Of The Union," Howard Kurtz noted the oversight. "You shouldn't be apologizing" for the typo, Kurtz says. "You should be apologizing for using partisan propaganda." Watch:

I am just so fed up with the myth of the liberal media. Where the he!! are they other than Air America and NPR. What I find when I do listen is religous programming, far right programs and music. Why do the conservs seem to blame everthing that goes wrong on us liberals, take no responsibility for all of their wrongdoing..and all the while being so angry and pi$$ed off at everything? lol I just have no idea how they think....at all, and am happy that I don't. Do not want to clutter my brain with all of their nonsense. The party of "no", how about the party of bankrupt ideas and no contribution whatsoever in trying to get our country back on track. All they like to do is complain whenever someone at least is trying, as is President Obama. And it's driving them more nuts than they already are trying to think of ways to stop his success(es) and our determination to get us back on track.

The liberal media is just upset because the control all but one channel. And imagine that, Fox News has the highest ratings. Wow, surprising with the deck stacked against them....

Doesn't surprise me any. There's no accounting for stupid.

For brevity's sake, let's set aside your ridiculous, tiresome canard about "the liberal media." I'll also leave alone your bizarre -- and demonstrably false -- contention that "no one was that vocal" about Dan Rather's use of unauthenticated documents.

Your comment doesn't address the substance of the story: that FOX News regurgitated, verbatim, a memo from the Senate Republican Communications Center and passed it off as their own "reporting." And, in their "apology," did not acknowledge their thievery.

It's clear that you're a fan of FOX News, but your silence on this ham-handed advocacy masquerading as reporting speaks volumes. One's left to conclude that you not only approve of this approach, but you'd like to see more of it.

Oh, wait ...

There is a big difference between "leaning " coverage, and all out propaganda.

Damn, no one was that vocal about CBS and Dan Rather's propaganda.

The actual facts presented by Dan Rather have yet to be disputed. The only thing that happens to be in dispute is whether they were the original documents. Even Bush did not deny anything in the reporting.

I'm not defending Bush ( I could care less) but the whole made up story was hilarious to me. CBS, we don't report the news, we make up the news.

That won't happen. Also, Howie you don't have the creds to call Fox out on being partisan.

FOX NEWS will never apologize for any of their bad reporting! They would be hog wild if another station did so.

Howard Kurtz is one to talk. He has been slyly pushing Republican talking points forever. This late day he's finding religion.

Please.

I think HuffPo getting called upon in that presidential news conference sent a strong message to the media. Business as usual won't cut it anymore. That could have made Howie come to Jesus.

Fox's slogan was slurred from the beginning; it was supposed to be 'Fairly unbalanced" not "Fair and Balanced"
