Pat Robertson Denounces Rush Limbaugh For Hoping Obama Fails

In an interview with U.S. News & World Report, conservative Christian leader Pat Robertson denounced talk show host Rush Limbaugh for saying he wants President Obama to fail.

"So you don't subscribe to Rush Limbaugh's "I hope he fails" school of thought?" asked interviewer Dan Gilgoff.

"That was a terrible thing to say," Robertson responded. "I mean, he's the president of all the country. If he succeeds, the country succeeds. And if he doesn't, it hurts us all. Anybody who would pull against our president is not exactly thinking rationally."

After the election, Robertson pronounced himself "remarkably pleased" with Obama and not so happy with President Bush. Robertson told Gilgoff that Obama hasn't been "as skillful" since taking office but that he wants "to give him the benefit of every doubt, and I definitely hope he succeeds."

Limbaugh has repeatedly expressed his desire to Obama -- and the stimulus package -- to fail. Listen:

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush appeared to implicitly criticize Limbaugh in a recent interview, saying use of "personal partisan attacks" is "not right for our country, it's not going to help us, and it's not going to help Republicans."

It is amazing how all of a sudden the right wing feels it is now okay to trash the president now that it is not occupied by a dixie crat. Whats the big deal about Obama? Are you kidding? I don't know. Sure, I'm happy to see the GOP in apparent chaos. I certainly won't miss their brand of politics. But this is starting to feel as though it is engineered, as though the GOP is falling apart on cue. Perhaps our shadowy overlords are making the republicans appear completely crazy to make us all fall in line with whatever Obama wants to do without question. Sorry! I always have questions. I suggest we all pay very close attention to what they want us all to sign onto over the next year or so. Please understand, I voted for Obama. I would have to agree with you. Not asking enough questions is what got the American people into the mess we are in. This is a government "by the people" and that means the people must participate, which translates into PAY ATTENTION. These last 8 years have been particularly sinister where basic human rights are concerned. The GOP used fear and hysteria to take away basic longstanding rights. They constantly indulge in dirty smear campaign politics. From their recent record alone, who but only the criminally insane could trust these people ever again. After that having been said, "these people" that would have to stretch to all people in politics. Nice people are corrupted easily in that game.
