Pat Robertson Denounces Rush Limbaugh For Hoping Obama Fails

In an interview with U.S. News & World Report, conservative Christian leader Pat Robertson denounced talk show host Rush Limbaugh for saying he wants President Obama to fail.

"So you don't subscribe to Rush Limbaugh's "I hope he fails" school of thought?" asked interviewer Dan Gilgoff.

"That was a terrible thing to say," Robertson responded. "I mean, he's the president of all the country. If he succeeds, the country succeeds. And if he doesn't, it hurts us all. Anybody who would pull against our president is not exactly thinking rationally."

After the election, Robertson pronounced himself "remarkably pleased" with Obama and not so happy with President Bush. Robertson told Gilgoff that Obama hasn't been "as skillful" since taking office but that he wants "to give him the benefit of every doubt, and I definitely hope he succeeds."

Limbaugh has repeatedly expressed his desire to Obama -- and the stimulus package -- to fail. Listen:

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush appeared to implicitly criticize Limbaugh in a recent interview, saying use of "personal partisan attacks" is "not right for our country, it's not going to help us, and it's not going to help Republicans."

i think you're all forgetting something.­many in the religious right think the future of their movement is with racial minorities­.pat isn't going to offend all of those groups with negative comments about obama. the pres. is very popular with people of color and pat is treading lightly around mr. 73% approval rating.if obama was 100% white like clinton he'd be tearing him down just like he did bill.the only "credit" he deserves is that pat knows his target audience and that's the one group he won't offend just like rush knows his target audience is the dittoheads­.i predict pat will go after any whites,gay­s,feminist­s and any religious groups(wic­cans,athei­sts,etc,) he can afford to go after in the obama admin. to get his bills paid and republican fundraising dollars.it sounds like if the robertson lovefest on here gets any bigger he can look to some huff. bloggers to make some donations.­you do know the hatemonger still has his 700 club web site don't you?

Limbaugh is only relevant in the world of Faux News, and with white, southern males, (for purposes of disclosure I am one). His brain is long since fried from the "hillbilly heroin". As for the "20 million" listeners, I haven't seen any ratings to support that and think it is more of his bloviating. Even if it is true, those aren't all lockstep listeners. I often listen to him when I need see what the enemy is saying, or when I need to laugh at the sorry state of a GOP being led around by the nose by the likes of Rush. Plus, 20 million may be a lot of listeners, but in a nation of 310 million, it's only 6% of the nation.
