Jimmy Fallon's First Guest: Robert DeNiro

NEW YORK — If Jimmy Fallon is nervous about the premiere of his new gig as "Late Night" host, he'll have show-biz heavyweights Robert De Niro and Van Morrison to lean on. They'll be the guests for Fallon's March 2 debut hosting the NBC late-night show.

Fallon replaces Conan O'Brien, who has his final show Friday before heading out west to take over the "Tonight" show in June.

Morrison will perform material from his critically praised "Astral Weeks" album.

NBC says Tina Fey, Jon Bon Jovi, Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, Donald Trump and Serena Williams are among other guests scheduled for Fallon's first week on "Late Night."

NBC better start looking for a new host from now. Sorry but Robert De Niro and Van Morrison are not going to save this show after a one day visit, unless they are going to be apart of the show each day.

Why would Deniro want to be his first guest. I love Robert Deniro, but he isn't the best person to be interviewed. He is really melancholy and chill. I'll flip back and forth, but no way am I missing Craig for Fallon even if Deniro is his guest.

Uggh. Jimmy Fallon is not funny! I can't believe they gave him a show. Hopefully he'll be better as a host than he was as an actor or comedian on SNL.

Could be painful: A novice interviewer with a notoriously reticent subject. I've seen some of the best interviewers in the business hit a brick wall with DeNiro.

I've only seen DeNiro on Jon Stewart, he acted like he didn't want to be there, like someone who thinks Stewart is a lightweight fool, and only went on the show to promote his movie.
