At a private White House cocktail reception last night for leaders of major progressive groups, Barack Obama and his wife Michelle appealed to these leaders and signaled that their groups would play a key role in driving the big progressive changes at the heart of the White House's legislative agenda, an attendee tells me.

Not much of an anti-war, pro peace presence either. And not one strong advocate for ending the war on drugs.

No Ralph Nader, no Dennis Kucinich, no Cynthia McKinney. I guess that team of rivals stuff only works when courting the extreme right. This group has no voice because of their uncompromising views on torture, rendition, war and the rule of law.

This was no gathering of progressives, just a bit of theater to give that impression.

More than 63 million American's said yes to Obama in November. Another several million would have said yes but relutantly stayed with their Republican friends and voted McCain, and of course their were several million who said they would vote for Obama but never made it to the polls. The numbers say "give the guy a little time and space". With few exceptions, Obama has taken office with the most overwhelming crisis' in modern history. Crisis' that not only challenge and threaten our country's security, but the security of the world. Everyone needs to take a breathe and give the guy a chance. In other words, CHILL OUT ALREADY! YOU ARE ALL DRIVING YOURSELVES CRAZY WITH THIS NONSENSE.
