Non-story! The events of the night have been illuminated via speculation and both parties have ample resources for all of their needs. I'd rather hear about the different state laws regarding DV.

Domestic violence, attempt to dominate the other. DV is by both men and women. Indirect physical violence may include destruction or throwing of objects near the victim. Psychological abuse may also involve economic and/or social control.

Here’s what I believed happened.

Rihanna snatches the phone and keys. A physical struggle persues over these items. He abruptly stop the car, she hits the dahboard (the contusions are almost even). Both are mad and in a physical struggle. She gets forearmed in the mouth (accidently or intentional, we don’t know). He is 19, she 20, both are immature and out of control. Both engaged in the act of DV. His intent was to get back his property, not assault. However, we see a pretty girl that appears to have gotten the worse of the fight.
We don’t know if Chris had any injuries. The media feeds us what/when they want us to know. If Chris was at the scene, they both would have gone to jail.

Men or women shouldn’t hit in any circumstances.

They need help, not condemnation. The new generation believes fighting is COOL. The message is if you dish it/take it. No gender bias. Youngsters are fighting rougher and tougher. Girls are just as prone to initiating violent and dangerous acts upon others. Teachers, etc. knows what I am talking about.

They could have a successful career and bring a desperately needed message to children, teens, and young adults: STOP THE VIOLENCE/FIGHTING, it’s not COOL.

A call-in to a radio show said today that these bruises look like those made by a person acting in defense, not one who acted offensively.

The interesting point of view comes from one member of a women's support group of those having experienced domestic abuse themselves. This person made the point of saying that it wasn't simply her opinion, but that it was the opinion of the entire group.

I don't know how this conclusion was reached, as I am not experienced enough in these matters. I am only advancing the point of view of one who alleges to be more familiar in this area than most of us. I will take no position for/against either party involved here.

After all the hype from the media this picture is not what I expected. The first thing I see is a picture of Rihanna--without makeup, which is a shock in itself because the only pictures that we have seen of her is her with makeup--believe me it makes a difference. Also, I see a girl with swollen eyes from crying, a scratch on her cheek and obvious trauma to her lips. With that said, these injuries do not look like she was 'attacked 'and 'beat' as reported by the media. To me these injuries could have come from two people hitting back and forth at each other in a confined space of a vehicle it does not look like she was beat in the face with a fist as reported. I was wondering why assault charges were not charged at the onset now, looking a this picture I see can see why. Also, I think it is wrong for TMZ to even post this picture and they should be prosecuted for receiving stolen property or interfering with an investigation.

OK!!!!! I'm not takein either side i love both of their music and in my opinion they were both in the wrong. She slapped him in the face he was already angry because of something that had happened between her and him earlier that day. She put her hands on an ANGERED man which made him more angry which caused him to beat the hell outta her. My suggestion to all women is IF U DONT WANT THE HELL KNOCKED OUTTA U DONT STRIKE A MAN EVER!!!!!!!, cause no matter wat u think or believe that man u strike will be 100 times more strong then u n another thing if u have the balls enough to strike a man u need to have the balls enough to get hit back n if u dont u shoulda never hit him in the first place. Like i said i'm not takein neither side but they both need to realize they were both in the wrong n all ya'll dissin chris brown should know better then that we have watched him grow up in front of us ya'll know better!!!!!

You know she attacked him based on what evidence? You'll have to do better than "we watched him grow up."

I have to say you are right. what gives a women the right to put there hands on a an and not think she will get something back. she had no right to take his phone are throw his keys out the window. we all know when i women is mad she will push a man buttons. Bet she push his. They both need help, i am sure she had a part in him getting anger.

Violent beatings between couples don't happen out of the clear blue.

Once you feel it escalate its time to go the other direction.

And the other partner is not to grab, block or follow behind the one leaving.

That goes for both men and women.

I wish the speculation would stop about what occurred between C. Brown & Rihanna. It is obvious from the tmz picture of Rihanna that he beat her. But I also think that Huffington Post shouldn't supply a link to the photograph.

I hope she doesn't continue to date him and I wish her nothing but blessings. Chris Brown is young, so I hope he works on reversing whatever issues he has that led him to harm her. I hope he learns that this is not how a woman or anyone should be treated and he can hopefully have healthy relationships with women in the future. I think it would also be best if the negative statements against both these young people would stop.

As everyone discusses why Rihanna should leave Brown because he MAY ONE DAY try to kill her, one aspect of this story that I feel is not getting the attention it deserves is the fact that Chris Brown MAY HAVE BEEN TRYING TO KILL Rihanna already during this altercation.

According to reports, he said he was going to kill her and choked her until she lost consciousness. When she came to, he was nowhere to be seen... having been whisked away by his security detail. It's not completely unrealistic to imagine that he may have thought her dead already when he ran away. So that her fainting may have saved her life.

The best reason for Rihanna to leave CB is Nicole Brown. Everyone cut OJ a break and look what happened.

More husbands and boyfriends K!ll women than strangers do....

My comment might come as a shock for alot of people but oh well. Im curious to know how is it that no one wants to forgive Chris Brown for his provoked reaction? where were all of those morals when other celebrities of his stature were in similar predicaments? like Lil Wayne, how many different kinds of drugs did they find on that bus? Regardless of T.I.'s gun conviction or R. Kelly's "alleged" child pornography charges we still bumped their music. Chris Brown is just a victim of his environment.

Battery is a violent crime with an identified victim.... Dr'u.gs are not....

Please give us all some credit and don't try to claim that "Chris Brown is a victim of his environment".... He knew better... He even told Tyra he knew better.....

He needs to be a man and take PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY for his actions.... Puhleeeze....

I hate a woman beater. Iv'e been angry enough at women in my life that I could have strangled some of them but I never raised a hand to any of them. Some baited me,taunted me, some struck me and then laughed in my face and had it been a man I would have torn their heads off .But when you strike a woman in anger you cross a line that takes away any semblance of dignity you can claim as a man. To hurt any woman to this degree is the cowardly act of a sycopath.

YR,

Unfortunately, I've known women who intentionally provoke their men.

One woman followed a husband, pushing his back, spiting and cursing. ...

He had he will of a saint not to turn around and by reflex or anger hit her.

So your not special.

Anyone of either gender can provoke or explode in rage. Thats a biological fact.

Yep, those who can't stop themselves from injuring someone may as well be that chmpzee that chewed the woman's face off.... Humans are civilized, know right from wrong, can make their own decisions and control their behavior....... Or at least that is what Jane Goodall says...

CB definitely needs a strict anger management course load - at least a year's worth of daily/weekly classes. He and Rihanna need therapy to help them figure out why they were attracted to a dysfunctional, abusive relationship. Rihanna needs separate therapy for anger management and impulse control, too. Throwing a person's car keys out the window during an argument (according to "her version") is NOT a good way to keep a person with anger issues calm. Just sayin...Don't put your hand in a tiger's mouth and expect a kiss on the pinkie.

Abuse is not a result of "anger out of control"... Otherwise, the abusers wouldn't be able to hold jobs or would be getting into fights with other authority figures as well as his Sig Other...

Abuse is the result of of the abuser having "control issues", and is rarely "cured" by therapy... Most states have discontinued using "Anger Management" programs for Abusers as it is just about completely Useless.

Hot Mamas: Bangin' after baby.

Can we get any ruder and cruder? Possibly. We could revert to the past when a man's wife and children were his to beat, just as long as it was within an inch of their lives.

It really doesn't matter what she said or did to Chris Brown. He should have taken out his rage on a door or a wall or a punching bag....not on a woman he claims to love.

Haven't we considered that maybe Rihanna may have been causing mental pain to Chris Brown? There are two sides to a story so lets just wait and see what the court case will tell us a bout their relationship.

Tell him to put a bible under his pillow and just deal with it.... After all, this was the only method he used to keep himself from abusing women in the first place...

If a woman causes you mental anguish, no matter what she does, you walk away. Break up with her. Tell her to get out of your life. You do NOT hit her. Unless you are not a real man. If you hit her, you deserve the legal consequences.

first time I felt pain. from my highchair. At one year. A very pleasant time eating my Gerbers. Father came for coffee, leaned against the counter, relaxed, sipping coffee. Asked where she had been at lunch time--farmers, spring of 1946, dad infield since before dawn, he had been in at noon expecting lunch after 7 hours of heavy labor but nothing. Now mid-afternoon, I'll never forget mothers stance, vicious scowl on her face, her shrill voice telling she didn't have to be there and she could do as she pleased, BAM the coffee in her face. I saw stars, literally, I felt the pain just as real as I had been physically hit on the chin.

As a single parent, unemployed and temporarily paying rent in her house. I saw the same behavior on her part, only this time directed towards my step-father, sad thing he had suffered a stroke incapable of escaping her abuse.

Decade later renting again, due to renewed unemployment from world of globalization. After a few months she told me "YOU'VE CHANGED", shortly followed by same stance, voice and abuse I witnessed father and step-father endure. She is a Sado-Machochist. She wants to be beaten, the only way she gets "PLEASURE"...

She is not alone, there are many women like her, I would never rush to jude any man accused of wife beating with out a very thourgh examinationl of all the history of the relationship.

So are you saying that your mother DESERVED to get hot coffee in her face because she didn't fix your dad lunch? Obviously, she had been beaten before and was expecting physical harm done to her for failing to obey her husband... But this IN NO WAY excuses anyone who touched her....

Some women will egg the man on, so they can feel inwardly superior at being the martyr...like a Saint who is being burned at the stake for being a "good" person... This is b/c their sense of self is so destroyed that the martyr role is the only thing of value they can fine in themselves...

It's part of the whole "Battered Women Syndrome"... I would advise anyone who was raised in a abusive household to do some reading to learn about this type of mindset...

But it still doesn't excuse the Abuser AT ALL....

And my question would be: Did you oblige your mother and give her the "pleasure" of being further abused?
