Cancer-stricken reality TV star Jade Goody and her fiance Jack Tweed, right, share a kiss on the drive way of her home in Upshire, southern England Saturday Feb. 21, 2009. The couple are scheduled to marry Sunday in a lavish ceremony at a country house hotel just eight miles from her home. The ceremony will be aired on cable television, and the photographs printed in OK! magazine. LONDON — Bald from chemotherapy and so weak she had trouble standing, British reality TV star Jade Goody married her 21-year-old sweetheart on Sunday _ and her every tear was captured for the cameras.

The wedding extravaganza for the brash 27-year-old, now dying from cervical cancer, has captivated Britain and helped turn the loud-mouthed Goody from the star everyone loved to hate to the one they can't praise enough.

Goody and Jack Tweed received a standing ovation from 200 guests once they were married at the Down Hall Country House Hotel in eastern England, Goody's spokesman Max Clifford told reporters after the ceremony.

The bride had painkillers stashed inside her designer dress. When she felt unable to stand about half an hour into the 45-minute service, she sat down, her husband-to-be knelt beside her, and her two young sons scrambled onto her lap, the spokesman said.

"It was just a very beautiful, very moving service," Clifford said.

The runup to the wedding received blanket coverage in the British media and pictures of the pair kissing were on most papers' front page Sunday. The overwhelmingly positive coverage marked a turnaround for Goody, who went from being the posterchild for British boorishness to an exemplar of bravery following her cancer diagnosis.

Doctors say Goody only has weeks to live. She decided to film her struggle with cancer and earn as much as possible in the time she has left in order to fund her sons' education.

Now known to most Britons simply as "Jade," Goody was plucked from obscurity to play in "Big Brother," a British reality show, in 2002. Her eye-popping gaffes _ she infamously complained of being "an escape goat" and questioned whether English was spoken in the U.S. _ made her so mocked that her old south London school defended itself by saying she wasn't a typical pupil.

Goody cashed in on her notoriety with an autobiography, fitness videos and a line of perfume, but her clashes with Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty during the filming of "Celebrity Big Brother" in January 2007 saw her branded a racist and ejected from the show in disgrace.

Goody tried her best to fix the damage, making up with Shetty, donating money to an Indian charity and offering to appear on the Indian version of the show. It was while she was filming that show in August that she learned she had cervical cancer.

Photo and video rights to her over-the-top wedding _ the helicopter, the cake, and Goody's invariably outrageous outbursts _ were auctioned off to the highest bidder, reportedly for a million pounds (more than $1.4 million).

Although some critics questioned Goody's determination to spend her dying days in the spotlight, her frankness largely won the media over.

"People will say I'm doing this for money," she was quoted as saying by The Sun tabloid earlier. "And they're right. I am, but not to buy flash cars or big houses. It's for my sons' future."

Politicians, medical professionals and even clergy rushed to heap praise on Goody.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown called her situation tragic, while the head of the Catholic Church in England and Wales, Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor, described Goody as "a brave woman."

"A lot of people might say 'well, it's better if she did everything in quiet,'" Murphy-O'Connor told Sky News in comments broadcast Sunday. "But I think she's made a decision that she wants the last months of her life to teach people something."

Others noted that cervical cancer screenings, which can catch the disease when it is more easily treatable, have spiked in Britain since Goody's condition hit the headlines.

"Jade Goody has done what no public health campaign has been able to do in the past, which is get widespread public attention onto the screening issue," British lawmaker Dr. Liam Fox told Sky.

Her plight even softened hearts at Britain's Ministry of Justice, which allowed Tweed, on probation after assaulting a teenage boy with a golf club, special dispensation to spend Sunday evening with his bride.

"It might be their only night together," Clifford said.

My husband was in the public eye - he was Mayor of our Borough - aged 40. He lost a 7 year battle with cancer - bowel, liver. pancreas, bones brain - yes - that;s its journey. My heart goes out to this woman and her family - I know exactly what is round their next corner and I wish them love. Take it in your stride my darlings. Live every minute and enjoy what you can. It's horrific but if you have your loved ones by you then it will be bearable. Goodbye and remember Life WILL go on. Go find my husband - too soon for both of you xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I wish her all the best. Its interesting how God can use our experiences to change our attitudes. Its only sad that cancer was what made this total transformation. I pray that God extends her life. I had a beautiful aunt who at the tender age of 36 died from Breast cancer and left her 12 yrs old son, and 15 yr old nephew (me), a mother, sisters, brothers, nieces, and friends alone. I miss you Aunt and I love you more than ever. Goode is not only strong in my eyes, but unbelievably resilient!...my prayers....

Jade, I salute you. Every cancer patient salutes you. Every caregiver for a cancer patient salutes you.
May your days go by in happiness and love and as pain free as possible. Stay Beautiful.

Jade might be a lot of things - but TV star she is not! She is living proof that we now no longer know the difference between fame and notoriety

Leave it to your rotten soul to just say something negative about someone who is dying. She is a star if EVERYONE in her country knows who she is and turns in to watch her on TV.

Nobody said stars have to be famous for x amount of time before being a star. Its a temporary situation and can last years or just a few months.

They had me until the end of the story. Her new husband was arrested for assaulting a teenage boy with a golf club? This is the man who is to be her sons' caretaker???

They have a father, who's been involved with their lives from the start, that will take them into his care when Goody goes.

Let's see now. She's 24 with two children by a boyfriend who seldom ever sees his sons. The new husband just got out of prison and wears a monitor on his ankle to his wedding and when he appears on wedding morning he's wearing a pair of white lace panties and a bra on his otherwise naked body.

She made racist remarks to and about an Indian actress and then diagnosed with c/cancer and decided she'd make a lot of money off this with reality tv exposure. So she has a wedding that cost millions though most of it donated so that she can start a fund for her boys when she dies. It's freezing cold in Britain but she goes out with her bald head and sandals when she's weak from chemo thus susceptible to any germs and attends a wedding with 200 people present with germs all around her. And out running around picking out her dress, presents for her bridesmaids and Rolex for her just out of prison husband to be who is 21 years old. Is this for real or a soap opera!

Forgot to add that the groom becomes a widower at age 21.

My heart goes out to those two young boys and their lives ahead.

I cannot imagine you have a smart assessment of the situation when you cannot even read that she is 27 as the article states, not 24.

Have you had Chemo?? She may have felt too hot from her chemo. She could feel like she has a fever or is on fire.. clearly you are one to join the long list of ignorant folk making judgements without being IN the person's shoes, IN their world, their lives. You only see what Producers want you to see.

A sad story-I hope her children help make this world a better place. They now have a name and they must not tarnish it.

Sometimes something good can come out of something bad. Best wishes to Jade. Thankfully she has her priorities straight in trying to provide for her boys. Not sure about marrying a guy who's in jail, however, more details about his circumstances are needed before commenting.

The guy was jailed for assaulting a teenager with a golf club.
Jade has lots of money now as a legacy for her kids.
She is addicted to fame and money, having been brought up in miserable circumstances.
God bless this train wreck.

Um, what difference does it make whom she marries? With only a few weeks to live, I think she is perfectly entitled to spend her remaining days as the wife of whomever she pleases.

*sarcasm* Yeah, she is so stupid to cash in on notoriaty while she can, what is she thinking?? Securing her kids' futures at least for a while? How stupid a mom can she be??
Who would want to make money while they can? Seems a smart person would wait till they are almost forgotten about THEN try to make money when no offers are there!

(Sick of those bashing her for being money grubbers! ANY of you saying that would do the same thing, if such an offer was put at your feet.)
