I Like ItI Don’t Like It

To continue our green fun from the 7 green moments from "The Daily Show," we've assembled 8 green moments on "The Colbert Report."

In these clips, Stephen Colbert does what he does best -- takes advantage of contradictions and public figures to make jokes and (sort of) make a point.

These are just a very few of the spots that Colbert's site has with him addressing environmental issues. If you have other favorites, let us know in the comments!

Let's get started...

1. THE NATIONAL HUMMER CLUB

A "group of heroes" stands up in defense of America's most precious resource: the Hummer.

Hummer enthusiast: "I'm not against the environment."

2. YOUR GAS DOLLAR

Colbert does the math and proves that oil is a non-profit business and that, moreover, we should be pretty impressed by Exxon making $1,300 per second.

3. BOY SCOUTS GET LOGGING MERIT BADGE

Remember that time that an organization that has an actual pledge about conservation was revealed to have made tons of money in high-impact logging?

4. THE CHEVY VOLT

GM vice chairman Bob Lutz goes on the show and talks with Stephen about electric cars, global warming (which Lutz doesn't believe is man-made) and 40-mile extension cords. Oh, and there's the fact that you could plug a Chevy Volt into a Hummer's cigarette lighter, run the Hummer's engine and get a charge.

Colbert: "Why not just call this the Chevy Gore?"

Colbert: Will [the Chevy Volt] get me laid?
Lutz: You're going to get a lot of very nice, no-makeup, environmental--
Colbert: A little crunchier! A little crunchier. Maybe a little hair on the legs down here.

5. THOMAS FRIEDMAN

It's not that often that somebody goes to the trouble to make fun of Kashi cereal on national TV!

Regarding methane emissions from cows belching: "The more hamburgers I eat, the more I save the problem. At this point it's us or the cows. It's kill or be killed."

6. GREENWASHING

This one is well worth if for the charts alone -- "the more gas you buy, the more solved the problem is."

7. ATTACK OF THE STYROFOAM CUP

8. GREEN COLLAR JOBS

Stephen talks to Van Jones about a green-collar economy. This isn't funny so much as it is important. There's also this -- Jones says we need to improve the solar industry's standing. Colbert recommends we first get a president that used to work in the solar industry.

BONUS: CARL POPE

it was pointed out that we really couldn't miss this one -- and it's true. It's chock full of the awkward moments that make Colbert who he is.

I noticed that the recently signed Stimulus Bill contains some of the elements that Van Jones discussed in the last segment. Weathereization, for example. Do you think maybe someone upstairs weas listening, perhaps?

I love how GM vice chairman Bob Lutz just pulls the number 32,000 out of his ... hat.
