So when we buy Pantene shampoo we are financing a free trip to Brazil for this Gisele person..? How nice for her. And all the American celebraties in the box are wearing orange "Bramha" shirts. Sort of humiliating if you ask me. Matthew, Kevein, dudes, pay your own way. Matthew's girlfriend is wearing a heidious rag.

The first principle of non-violence is to never allow yourself or anyone else to be humiliated. Yikes. This is gauche.

Brazil carnival is the biggest in the world and the women body paint their bodies and they are amazing.

It is truly the biggest show on earth and completely authentic, all done by the poorest neighborhoods in Rio. They put together a different show every year, working on the costumes and floats and rehearsing all year long for this moment, giving their all for the big title of best samba school of the year. I have relatives who participated and they said that it is exhilarating and the energy is just contagious. You do have to pay a small fortune for the outfit because this is how outsiders finance the show. I've watched it myself and I think this is the experience of a lifetime!

Carnival is an amazing event. I have friends who have gone and they do say it was the most amazing thing to be a part of. Even when you go to watch, you're participating.
I understand that a lot of the samba schools are made up of organizations in the favelas that do community work as well.
One day, I hope to go and experience Carnival in Salvador do Bahia or in Rio.
Some of the comments here are a kind of ignorant, so I would suggest that some of you please Google "samba schools" or "carnival" and get some knowledge about this.

He's been a good President - made particularly special by the fact that he was a "retirante" - a north eastern immigrant) - who went to work in São Paulo's industrial cities (losing one finger in the process), and made into political life through his work with the Unions.

In a country so class-oriented ( worst wealth distribution in the world, after Burundi), that was no mean feat.

Why can't we have fun things like this in our country? What's wrong with skin, costumes and body paint? C'mon people, relax, lighten up and be free.

Mardi Gras is like a frat party compared to Carnival... it is an amazing adventure. Truly fun and the Brazilians are just cool.

We do ... It's called Mardi Gras ... As long as they continue to de-blackify and de-culturize N.O.L.A.it won't be the same. They are still trying but we have a long way to go. It would be fun. Half the country taking off work to get naked and the other half taking off work to watch!!!
