Survey Reveals Broad Support For President

President Obama is benefiting from remarkably high levels of optimism and confidence among Americans about his leadership, providing him with substantial political clout as he confronts the nation's economic challenges and opposition from nearly all Republicans in Congress, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.

A majority of people surveyed in both parties said Mr. Obama was striving to work in a bipartisan way, but most faulted Republicans for their response to the president, saying the party had objected to the $787 billion economic stimulus plan for political reasons. Most said Mr. Obama should pursue the priorities he campaigned on, the poll found, rather than seek middle ground with Republicans.

I hope the majority of Americans are also paylng close attention to how
diligently the Republicans are working for Obama to fail. Their obstructionist
tactics and wah-wah-wah-we-lost attitude is doing no good for the country
and certainly not for the average American. Keep in mind. Barack Obama
inherited this house, which has termiites, needs paint, has faulty plumbing,
dangerous electrical wiring and an incredibly high mortgage. The previous
owners didn't take care of it and now that is has become someone else's
responsibility they are standing on the sidewalk tsk-tsking about what bad
shape it's in But not one of them is willing to pick up a shover or paint brush
to put it back in shape.

Once again in my lifetime it boils down to "it's the economy, stupid!". If President Obama, his economic team and the Congressional Democrats can stop this economic decline and start putting people back to work and keeping them in their homes, they will be hailed as heroes. If, on the other hand they fail, their majority and their popularity will be cut short. The GOP has become addicted to power. I don't know about your 90% figure, but I can tell you why ANY Americans supported containing (not shocking, awing, and a 6 yr occupation) Hussein.

Being that we're in tax season, let me remind my fellow Americans who consider themselves "republican": if you're pulled a W-2 last year, and especially if you file a 1040EZ, you are either severely masochistic or brimming with self-loathing, or both.
