Please, please, please don't give them more of my tax money.
This has happened over and over and over again. The money is only used to buy weapons to be used against India and finance the training camps. Every time there is an infusion of money from the U.S., weapons show up in Kashmir. Don't make a bad situation worse.

A nation with no shame. Takes pride in sending coked up pa/kjabi terr0rits to kill unarmed men, women and children. Blackmails the world with its Nuclear Weapons.

And now begs the west to bail out its ever failing state for the umpteenth time. A blight upon on all men.

So where did the money go????????

Your guess is as good as mine.

In the 60yrs of that country only one Institution has been constant stable...the P-Stan Army. Their elite diaspora in the West is usually the extended families of their officers cadre. They enrich themselves by playing up the threat from India while simultaneously believing their horsechit about racial martial superiority in starting wars with In/dia they never win.

Pakistan's ISI created the Taliban. The Taliban has widespread support in Pakistan so giving more cash to these Jihadis is about the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Then again Kerry was never known for his great intellect.

I believe they got their last emergency loan from China although not as much as they wanted.
I'm sure that Kerry et al doesn't want them to go back to China and have the US lose even more influence.

John Kerry need not believe the Hype. If American $$$ as bad as our economy is now is given to Pakistan, then we will force that nation to make peace with India over Kashmere and to make other needed peace in the region. Pakistan received over $!) billion from the Bush Administration, was that a cover for the intelligencia in Pakistan to atke out Butto? The Pakistanis and Mussaraff hide those billion in off shore accounts and also use it to slip money to OSBL and keep him in hiding. I CIA and all their laggies must be caught and as President OBAMA said today, the USA does not torture. It is time to end this BS. John Kerry don't let us call you out, Pakistan is not an American State, it is better for us that Pakistan becomes a "fail" State, then India can invade it and we can take out is nuclear arms. Mussaraf and Butto husband now are one and the same, all corrupt!

Great points.
Obama has spoken to this issue during the campaign. He knows a lot more angles than anyone i have heard except Jimmy Carter, who has a great plan to bring peace to the Middle east.

He has stated that he expects to be able to use economic pressures with several of the countries in the area. If I hadn't heard him speak to this, i would be worried, but I think he at least has a plan. If it doesn't work, we should move on, and out.

Pakistan and India can not feed their people, have the conditions they do, have been fighting over an unlivable piece of dirt in the moutains and hang nuclear war over the head of one another and the rest of us?

This is the same country who failed to keep Bhuto from getting killed?

Five million dollars for what?

It is amazing that a region of the world full of people who think so little of the US are constantly sticking their hand out.

These folks can not even get along with themselves, their own people, their own neighbors.

I am sure we will send them a boat load of money.

India isn't in as bad a shape as you claim. We have the infrastructure, technology and the crops. Just a very bad lending system and the price of farm products is not enough in most cases to sustain a farmer's family. Maybe the Indian state government can subsidize them.

Perhaps it is just me, but seeing children, and adults, live in garbage dumps is a bit disturbing.

Lumping in India betrays your ignorance. I guess since you think you've slumdog millionaire you're now an expert on the region.

Give them the money but under a few conditions:

1.) We get direct control of their nuclear program.

2.) They don't like that then, they must agree to a massive nuclear weapon decommissioning program in concert with India.

Nuclear non-proliferation starts with the purse strings. This goes for Israel as well. Any country we prop up economically must commit to de-proliferation. This would be bold new thinking and would give us great leverage against Iran.

If we are going to give out all this foreign aid we should get some reasonable quid pro quo in return.

By the way I have no problem with increasing foreign aid budget, but we should have some clear goals attached to our expenditures. Nuclear de-proliferation seems like a worthy goal.

No way in hell they would ever agree to the first, and I don't know about the second option.

Having nukes ensures you get international aid, and is a big freaking bargaining chip

OK, I'm going to point out the elephant in the room.

WHY... THE F**K... DO WE WANT TO GIVE $5 BILLION TO PEOPLE WHO HATE US AND WANT US DEAD?!?!

So they won't lob a nuke at us?

Would they really be able to do that with their country in chaos?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:29 PM on 02/24/2009

Maybe not, but we don't want those nukes getting into the wrong hands. And we don't want to alarm India who also has nukes. Remember who just gave up an area in the northwest part of their country to the taliban and allowed them to reinstate shia law- the Pakistani government. This is scary, scary stuff.

If you don't watch False News you won't hear any of that scary stuff. And pretty soon you won't miss it either. Never mind that it wasn't true in the first place.

It's a sheit sandwitch no matter how you look at it and everyone needs to take a bite. Very important that all countries in the G-20 contribute. It should be a requirement to be in the G-20.

You heard about the guy who decided not to get married again, after his third divorce?

He decided that instead, every five years he's going to find a woman who hates him. And give her a house.

Q. Why does the US always give tinpot third world corrupt leaders huge amounts of money, when ninety percent of it goes in backhanders?

A. They think its cheaper than fair dealing. Generally speaking they were probably right.

But it doesn't do much for the US's reputation. Particularly in the age to the internet. And finally someone took a swing back. Aided by help on the inside, naturally.

What was Cheney doing in the corridor to the bunker between 9.20am and 10.05am on 9/11?

The only way this works is fi we get something really big out of it.

The only way this works is with a tough negotiator that knows the area and the culture and can come in clean.

Try not focussing on the combative aspects of this and think more in terms of economic and political moves that can be made. Carter, Holbrooke, Mitchell, Clinton- we have the best team yet to give peace a chance in the middle east. And they have a whole different attitude about Obama. This is a golden opportunity.

They aren't going to attack us. None of those countries are. They know what would happen. Terrorists might try, but they should be seen as a law enforcement problem, not a military one. A bunch of two bit terrorists brought this country to its knees on 9/11. it was a gift to the Bush crowd that eventually tore our economy apart because everyone was sitting around worrying about a bunch of radicals while Bush promoted fear.

There is another way. We just haven't seen anything adult for 8 years.

$5,000,000,000, is drop in the bucket. In the last 8yrs we sent $10,000,000,000in no strings attached aid to them. Most of which went in the coffers of the Army and into Anti-In/dia specific ventures.

This will be on top of another tranche of Military aid or subsidy about $3,000.000.000 This just the 2001 onwards. In the period of 1960-1990 we wasted close to $30,000,000,000 in propping them up agaist In/dia and the Soviets.

And yes these people would love to have an ICBM to hold us in tyranny just as they hold In/dia. They have no other coaelescing identity that just being the Anti-In/dia.
