"Nobody Messes With Joe": Obama Speech Tonight (VIDEO)

"I know there are some in this chamber and watching at home who are skeptical of whether this plan will work," Obama said. The camera quickly flashed to one of those skeptics: a wistful-looking Sen. John McCain. "That is why I have asked Vice President Biden to lead a tough, unprecedented oversight effort," the president continued, "because nobody messes with Joe." The audience -- and Biden -- laughed and cheered.

Some men/women empower their office. Some men/women are empowered by their office. Joe Biden is both empowering and empowered. The word OVERSIGHT being used in a constructive rather than pejorative sense isn't something that Republican congressional leaders are used to. Perhaps now that the shoe is on the other foot, they will learn that the founding fathers intended OVERSIGHT to be an active rather than a passive responsibility of the legislative branch of our government over the executive branch of government instead of the other way around.
