Bill Clinton -- who recently urged President Obama to show more optimism about the future -- hailed Obama for getting the tone right in his speech last night, praising Obama's effort as "terrific" and a "real success" that struck just "the right balance."

Bill Clinton does not need to seek the spotlight by commenting on every Obama action, as if he is coaching a rookie. Bill had his chance at being president, fumbled badly, and now has cashed in selling his influence to anyone who will pay to become a mega-millionaire.

In the campaign Bill used the race card to try to defeat Obama, but he failed. That fact, combined with his irresponsible affair with an intern, lies under oath, impeachment, and dishonest and failed efforts to promote his wife for president -- these things constitute Bill's place in history.

This new generation of democrats. the kids frolicking around on blogs would LOVE Reagen before they would show respect to the greatest democrat/ President from our own party.

again, everyone talks about the greatest economic times in the 90's in the media , cited by the white house too etc , yet you shameless new breed of democrats on blogs - they forget - It was Bill Clinton who gave it to us!

I HAVE MORE RESPECT FOR THE REPUBLICANS: The REPUBLICANS show more loyalty to Bush and have greater sense of party than you despicable punks here. YOU who disrespect the ONLY DEMOCRAT to ever talk the walk!

You have become an American Idol generation. You are no different than those who vote for Chavez. All you need is feel good speeches and rhetoric to follow or be against that which is or was best for your families, because facts on the ground - don't matter to this generation.

Mr President Bill Clinton. I will never forget how you helped the low and middle class to prosper during your term as President.

I am bewildered by the rabid anti-Clintonism on this thread.

As the last generally successful president (to wit a Democrat), it would seem to me that his utterances should, at the very minimum, be accorded a modicum of respect.

Some people just find them too "triangulating"....too "politic" and even hypocritical.

I take Bill's comments as they come. This one was good. His next? May not be.

Wihen he's supportive, I like him again, for the moment. But I never feel I can trust him.

Bill Clinton de-regulated the banking industry, opening the door to abuses and current crises, and was rewarded with HUGE "speaking and consulting" fees from corporate interest, making him a mega millionaire. Enough of him.

BILL Clinton = Greatest president in US modern history. Proven track record.

Most all that hate the most successful DEM president ever, are just kids running around trying to feel important on political blogs. Everybody keeps bringing up the greatest time in US economic history now days. Respect what you won't amount to ever in your lives or be helpful for the masses like Bill's tenure was. He showed us the money for sure and made low and middle income families prosper!

Do the math on the economics and not the hater talking points.

Bill = most finacally responsible US President of our lifetimes.

The only bad thing one could say about Bill is he didn't fight the Republicans on deregulation... but considering how the GOP slashed and burned the US economy for the past last eight years, that's essentially a moot point anyway.

It was not financially resposible for Bill Clinton to sign the legislation deregulating the banks, and openning the door to the current crisis. He and Robert Rubin will be held accountable in history for their share in the collapse of Wall Street, and the ill-gotten mega millions they have made by cashing in since 2000.

ALL national politicians both Republicans and Democrats are owned by the Banking industry. Perpetuating the partisan warfare by blaming only one side or the other simply keeps the nation in regulatory gridlock, permitting the banks to rule us.

Considering Jindal has to stick with the failed and disgraced far-right agenda, there's not really much he could do besides cheerlead for the end of the world.

Poor little neocons done gone and painted themselves into a corner.

But hey, Stay Teh Course, guys. Going even more far-lunatic-fringe-right is your way back to power. Really!

Now everyone is SOOO tolerant. My goodness. Is this calculating that the country does not want divisive politics? I suspect so. But it reminds me of a wife saying her husband is such a good guy as he kicks her in the teeth. Republicans SURELY did not say such sweet things about Democrats when Republicans were in power. They SHUT THEM OUT literally...closed the door and no Democrats need enter.

Okay, maybe the big Dems know what they are doing. As for me I can't turn the other cheek, well I can but not the cheek you may think and NOT to Republicans. Love those who hate you? I'll leave that to Jesus as for me I can't!

I am tired of seeing Bill and hearing him. He craves the spotlight and probably hate the fact that Hilary and Obama are riding on popularity waves and he is jealous. He wants to be in on this. He had served his term. Its time for him to shup up and do other things. He does not have to be in hte public eye right now. I think its an ego trip. I am not liking Bill right now..

It's not a question of being "allowed." It's about why lazy MSM reporters think we care.

If that's the best they can do, they should get real jobs.

There you go Bill, Barack talked up the economy for you, so maybe now you'll get those donations to your phony little charity so that you won't have to cease operations. http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0902/17/lkl.01.html
