Being a mascot for Chick-fil-A is a form of employment not without risks, according to the Fredericksburg, VA police blotter. A man working as the Chick-fil-A 'cow' at a local outpost of the restaurant chain was attacked during his shift, making him the victim of, as the report put it, "a bovine beat-down."

The victim, dressed as a cow, was standing outside the restaurant when he was approached by a man who yelled at him and pushed him to the ground, according to a release by Fredericksburg Police Department spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe.

She said when another man intervened, the assailant ran away.

The victim could not give a description of the attacker, Bledsoe said.

One would like to assume this was a one-time targeting of the company's mascot, but alas, it seems violence has, nearly, struck before:

Here's a story story from KCRA in Sacramento from last March:

It takes udder courage to stand along a street in Elk Grove wearing a Chick-Fil-A cow costume.

But it's also a little dangerous, as 19-year-old Melissa Forsberg recently found out.

Forsberg was working as the restaurant's mascot and trying to catch the attention of passing motorists, but she ended up nearly being attacked by a passer-by.

Now, she finds herself without a job. Forsberg said she is upset with the fast-food giant for firing her after just three weeks on the job.[...]

Forsberg said she wants to see future mascots protected by security.

That really stinks. A guy in a cow suit is lucky to have a job at all, and now this. I say find the guy and press charges and make HIM wear a cow suit.

I love the way the report ends, "with the assailant still on the loose."

So nobody in costume is safe! Maybe Rorshach can solve the mystery.

The headline says it happened in Maryland. Fredericksburg, VA, is quite a ways from the Maryland line.

Am I missing something?

Protect mascots with security? Why not hire security and make him wear a mascot suit?

This isn't news. Huffpost editors - kindly get rid of this post. There's more relevant stuff going on in the world at this moment, not some guy in a cow suit getting attacked.

It was probably someone from PETA what attacked the cow. I heard they drive cars. (PETA members. Not cows. I don't know about cows.).
